  1. Come for the views, the jumping, the fun and the great staff who will keep you safe and smiling. One of the best DZs around - I mean turning the otter on a weekday Plus the views!!!! Amazing Cannot wait to come back
  2. simply the most fun DZ in years, like jumping back in the day, but safely with good kit. As a Brit abroad I thought it'd.be a bit awkward, to my delight the opposite was true, Jim and all the crew made me feel welcome, were keen to get me on loads with a selection of kit to rent. I arrived at about 3.30pm, and still got 3 jumps in before sunset at 7. if you're in Kentucky go visit big Jim, honestly you'll not find a friendlier DZ in the Northern Hemisphere.
  3. From a therapy point of view... what are you doing now? Who have you consulted have you had an MRI. L5 disc bulges are common and often do well with conservative management, use your favourite search engine to look up Mackenzie institute and go and see a DECENT physio - the chartered society of physios should have listings, but in all honesty recommendations go further in my eyes. From a skydiving point of view - psycho pack it's soft openings!!
  4. These guys were so friendly and even tolerated my bad German, though in truth I think they just wanted to laugh! Really grateful that they spoke English, offered to jump with me (flat and free). And great BBQ food too - though you might not want to be driving home afterwards! In short if you are near, it's a great weekend dropzone. They did only have a cesna this year (Aug 07) but should have something bigger next year.
  5. Good luck dude. From a physio point of view they say 12 months for the graft to attain "full strength" but with proper rehab many athletes get back long before that. Just be warned to take it easy til you get past that magic 12 months. As for the brace recommendations. Take them with a huge pinch of salt, braces are not necessarily worth all they are cracked up to be. A number of studies have been carried out that basically say they just lull you into a false sense of security. My advice (for what it's worth) stay on a big ish canopy with soft landings til you are sure about your knee
  6. Jumped here for a week as was over for a wedding, Ju-Ju and Juliet were brilliant (really helpful, patient and friendly, despite my poor french!) Davy and Fred were cool guys too and packed my reserve same day between his own tandem jumps. Meantime they lent me some kit. Watched Ju-Ju do about 20 jumps back to back and he was still keen to jump and teach my sorry ass! Really loved the place, will be back for the next boogie Matt
  7. You've got it spot on, carrying too much ground speed seems to be the major thing. Kinda figured that it was due to the fact that the canopy seems to drop like a stone (quite funny when I'm running in after a jump coz always land first) but having to break into a sprint at ground level or simply land sliding on my ass (very graceful) is not the best. However trying to get someone with a camera to get me landing sounds like a plan
  8. Cheers guys, like flow said I do seem to sink pretty sharpish (only weigh 68 Kgs) but it's only a worry when you get a bum spot. Openings haven't been a problem so far (touch wood) as I psycho it and that gives me a pretty comfy one, it just seems that unless there's a wee bit of wind I have loadsa ground speed even when flaring. just doesn't seem to want to plane out at all even with a vicious flare. Guess I'll get used to it but it's only until I can afford a 100% ZP anyway. but thanks for the tips. Meantime anyone seen a reasonably priced ZP?????
  9. ANybody any feedback on a Merrit150 canopy??? Just asking someone else about one and they're like me, finding it hard to judge the right flare height, seems like I have to flare much higher than any other canopy. Hints and tips appreciated
  10. Without a doubt one of my favourite DZs, better atmos than anywhere in uk and everyone keen to help and jump with you regardless of ability. From freefly to flat whatever you need someone can help. One gripe it's hard to jump the next day following a Jeigermeister night! When you go there you'll know what I mean. The social life is almost more gruelling than a desert trek! What ever you look for in a dz it's here and the level of expertise is overwhelming. Thanks for a great time to one and all (beware of ginger englishmen and there nasty cocktail creations)
