But then again, people just love setting up nonsensical competitions of all sorts, so why would they? ;)

    * like in, "You're so trackingderbyish! Flying down strong winds and marveling at nonsensical GPS results! Idiot." ;)

why on earth is it that wingsuiters have to slam every atchevment thats done wingsuiting,
FYO, the windy day was the friday, I did my runs on the saterday when the winds were low at altitude to none on the ground, performance is the trick, get it right and kick it, or sit in your bedroom and bitch.

Someone should educate the media on what they say on the reports or don't allow to use the photo/video material if they don't :P

Good idea, thanks for volunteering. Let us know when you're finished.

I have an altitrack, but Scotty has it as i left it in Utah. He is sending it to me hopefully overnight. If I get it I will do another long flight this weekend.

    Justin

Since I have his alti-track, Ive gone ahead and averaged all of the deployment altlitudes in the memory of the alti... Should we have a comptition to see who can guess the closest? " Im proud its higher than I thought~ but not by much~ :P

That is too funny. I remember watching that happen, being about 20 feet to their left. It surely was a "death defying moment" :D:D

I think you had your own 3 (or 4?) way "death defying burble funnel" near the end of that same jump. I sold that footage too since it was in the same jump, not sure if it will air as B-roll.

should be interesting to see what they air, they got all the angles from that jump. but since we've all seen it a couple times, i bet some of the funniest stuff will be Scott's interview.... " so is that Zach guy crazy?"

That's industrial haze, Matt. Duh! Can't you tell the difference? :)

We were in Marginal VFR Conditions.... I called ATC and got a Special VFR Clearance for myself on that flight, So I was golden..... .:P

Butters~ I can honestly say ive never seen my friendly FAA agent floating near a cloud with a yardstick, thankfully. But I can honestly say it sucks to come around the bottom side of a nice puffy to see your new friend the glider pilot hanging out where he's not supposed to be... keep your eyes open... The rules are there to help with flight safety. If the FAA really knew what we could do in wingsuits they would probably make us have beacons and transponders~ we should all try to not give them any more ammo then they already have. if there ever was a wingsuit/aircraft collision I can tell you that the regulation we would face afterwords, is disgusting.

    back to the question at hand;
do we need a uspa wingsuit instructor rating? it's a fair question, and one that deserves debate. I vote hell no. such a thing will only increase cost, and restrict access. will a wingsuit license, with another tax, be required next?
imo, the proper regulating authority for such things is the dzo / s&ta.

I will be glad to respond in greater length and details to my view on this subject, but first a quick question~

So a guy has his private pilots liscense and has about 40 hours, which is alot more time than a liscensed skydiver, and also much more complex than simply jumping out a plane with a parachute on. Now would it be ok to take that same private pilot, and tell him, hey, i know you want to fly jumpers, so why dont you come out to the Huey with me, and ill give you an hour breifing and set u loose to take the next load up?

This relationship is akin to the newer skydivers inability to comprehend all the forces involved, and profeciancy required in order to safely execute the plan... I know I wouldnt get on that huey~

Just a thought... be back later

  • I believe the LZ is about 700 feet higher than the dx, so about 5k~ deep canyons that we fly through, no more than a mile... seems alot closer... your lz is also in a canyon between 2 ridges, and its a field mabye, 200' by 600 ft mabye, mabye a little larger... its definately quite a bit faster, but lotts of fun to swoop~ :P
