  1. if your feet pop into your video frame than it was just right. i HATE long, snively openings. i pitch in a track these days and i love the openings. i had a sabre2 smack the crap outta me once. saw stars, a little dazed. that was a hard opening. i didnt like that one.

  2. Yo!

the first spinner i had was on an older Nitron150. i had just down sized and switched from a sabre2 190. i know that is generally not a recommended progression, but hey, its what i did. i had somewhere around 530 jumps when i bought the first Nitron150.

that first spinner was a super rushed, low deployment after a leader of a flocking dive corked and sent people every which way. it was a big mess. i tracked for longer than i normally would because i wasnt sure where the hell all the other bodies went. i was low...didnt waste too much time fighting it.

second spinner had me on my back and did spook me a little bit. wasnt making any progress as i got real close to my 1800' hard deck so i choose to chop it.

these two chops were no more than 2 weeks apart
    :S

edit>> as you mentioned, the jump i made in my canopy choices and size didnt seem like a big deal until i found myself under line twists. things happen fast at a moderate wing loading. i have had line twists since then and it really isnt as spooky once you've been there a couple times.

Do you have more info than the rest of us? I think you just implied that the Swiss fatality that Mac posted about was due to a pull up cord?

negative. there was a fatality in the UK i believe that was a result of a pull up cord around the PC.

edit> here you go. now YOU go read the list again.

    #94 Paul Smith-Crallan, March 15, 2006

Paul, who was under the supervision of a mentor, is jumping this pylon for the first time. His mentor is known to teach his charges to use a packing aid when folding pilot chutes for stowed jumps. Apparently Paul did not remove the packing aid, which was a pull up cord, prior to jumping and on deployment the pilot chute failed to extract the canopy in time for full inflation. Nicknamed, "BaseMonkey" Paul was well liked and very enthusiastic about the sport. The lesson here is obvious for both mentors and students.

    Hey Alex,
It seems to me that one(outside)A line was installed incorrected. It's passing through the slider grommet that belongs to C, D & brake lines! Nice picture!!!:)Cheers,

unless someone took apart my slinks when i wasnt looking, i dont think it was installed incorrectly. that was my 4th jump of the day. it was such a mess of tangled HMA i didnt really mess with it too long. a little shift in my harness equaled a not fun dive.

  6. so when PD relines a canopy with HMA lines, is the line configuration the same? meaning, cascaded lines as opposed to continuous line found on Precision and Hiper canopies. Ive had some(more than a few) beers. forgive me please if im talking out the side of my neck!

  7. yep. i dont give a rats ass what you use to pack your parachute. hell, i might use a set of BBQ tongs to pack later....but i will COUNT MY TOOLS!!!

i have opened a packjob because i didnt know where a pull up cord went. i was packing at the DZ and somebody probably stole it but i didnt have it after i closed my container. i never did find it, but oh well.

these needless fatalities are not occurring because people pack using strange methods, they are occurring because people are not keeping track of they're tools.

    ONE MORE TIME......

    COUNT YOUR TOOLS PEOPLE!!!!!

I think it's better than Perris' bunkhouse (I didn't like the extreme lack of light in the bunkhouse).

how else are you supposed to sleep in the middle of the day after serious alcoholism the previous night/morning? i think the Perris bunkhouse rocks.

  9. id say if you're worried about it...dont do it. if you're thinking too much about it on the ground you're going to think too much about it in the air. distractions when falling towards the ground are bad with low experience. but hey..do what you want. the USPA says you are an experienced jumper.

A friend of mine went on to become a CPA and quit after two or three years to be a massage therapist. She likes it a lot more but her dad is also loaded, she's kind of fucked up in the head and she has no belly button so maybe that's not a great example. My dad was a postman for 20 years. My wife's also fat.

THAT..is the best post i have ever read on here. EVER! im smashed and will let my dog out soon to lick the other dogs snapper.
