  1. hi shelli, I just graduated and also had to repeat one jump due to excessive backsliding. I found by doing multiple jumps together I was more in tune. I can't wait to get back to the DZ to go totally on my own. Also my instructor video taped my last 4 jumps. I must have looked at it a hundred times and saw some minor errors I need to work on. my problem was the initial departure from the plane. I have a tendency to look where I am going (down), then arch and correct. The next time I am on the plane I am going to sit at the door and stare at the prop, jump and try to continue this so I don't look down. minor adjustments. My point is the video really helped me to see some minor posture issues. additionally, its no big deal to repeat some. Its all about learning and safety.Quote
  2. Willso, the jumps I mentioned are probably the same as you. It was my 2nd and 3rd JM assisted. #7 is my graduation jump. On 3 the JM let go after I was stable. It was a backwards exit, which was different from my tandoms. Those were side exits out of an otter into the relative wind. I know what caused my spinning and hope to correct the problem on my next jump. I find myself so hyped as I am leaving the plane that relaxing is tough. But after a couple seconds I go through the mental check arch relax legs arms and I am on track. Soon i am sure it will be second nature for us new jumpers to fall into place. good luck on the rest of your training.
  3. did jumps c2 and c3 today. Words cannot explain how exciting this is. made 2 mistakes today one on each jump both during exit of the sky van. On the first jump I looked down, probably because I was backing up. this caused me to flip a few times. I relaxed, arched and all was good. landing was good plf, flared just alittle to low. On the 2nd jump I really screwed up. I looked up, but I bent my knees way to much. I started rolling a little,(really alot) which really concerned my instructer, but as soon as I relaxed and arched I flattened out. I had a perfect stand up landing. I learned alot today and the most important part was to breath out, and let it all go. Your body falls into place. my instructor wants me to repeat c3 because of the bout of spinning. But thats OK. I learned so much by making this mistake that I will not do it again. Unless of course I am doing it for fun.
  4. I hope to get in the air tommorrow, weather permitting. I would like to get all my jumps done as soon as possible as close together as possible. I am alittle hesitant about going on the weekend though because of the amount of jumpers around.
  5. Made my first solo jump yesterday at Cross Keys. All I can say is "Holy Shit" This is gonna be some wild fun. My biggest fear was a malfunction on this jump: So what happens: I get a partially open chute with a line twist. I look up and remember square chute straight lines slider down. and say thats not the way it suppose to look. I remember what I was told, first don't over think it. Kick out of it, relax. So after about 4 spins under the canopy "pop" fully inflated chute.
