  1. As long as they get along, I would hate to be in the middle of an argument and get the duoble head butt, OH, what if they are Bipoler!?! It would be like trying to organize a Bigway!

  2. I have a couple of Bev Suits and Michigan Suits. both suits are fantastic. Irecently just got another Bev Suit.

I am the type of jumper that puts the suits on and keeps them on all day. I do not think you'll go wrong with either company.

  3. Just got off the phone with them.

They mailed refunds to all subscribers for any remaining issues and a note about the suspension.

I for one hope it is a short suspension and that Skydiving Magazine cames back as good as ever soon!

  4. I agree, President Obama seemed to have practiced his part, the Chief justice, I think, not so much.

It is as if the President was waiting for the Justice to undo his mistake, as was pointed out already.

  7. Not knowing your location we won't be able to give you a specific place to go.

We can offer some advice though on training techniques.

The "A" license requires 25 jumps minimum, no matter the training method, and that you already know.

AFF (pure) is the most expensive as it is a bit more involved for all parties.
IAF (Tandem and then AFF combined) comes in a little cheaper.
Both these methods start you on freefall from the first jump and for some that helps them to progress faster in the learning process.

Staticline and IAD (Instructor Assisted Deployment) are probably the least expensive. You do your first jump in these methods from a lower altitude and focus on the exit body position and then Canopy control, as the canopy is deploying as soon as you leave the plane. In these methods you work your way UP to what is typically called full freefall altitude.

All methods have the same requirements for skills to learn and build on, as well as to get a license, just a slightly different route to get there.

  8. Short answer, Yes.

I got the understanding based on your post it is the Clubs event, and based on the form the school is asking the Club to pay for the rent of the field.

Maybe you can ask for a fee waiver or some thing like that as the school funds you. But the School and the field may have seperate fund source, yeah it probably all comes from the school and it may boil down to an interdepartmental transfer.

  9. Spring loaded Pilots chutes used to be the "In" thing before the Hand Deploy Pilot Chute.

They are still used for All Reserve Containers (IIRC) and for some student model rigs.

But typically you'll want a Hand Deployed Pilot Chute, in a BOC. That will give you the best flexability in skydiving disciplines.

Then you get into collapsable, non-collapsable, hacky, monkey fist........

  11. Probably you will:

Go through a Refresher Course which will review all Emergancy Proceedures, Equipment, actions in the Airplane and then your dive flow, to include the canopy control portion.

The freefall may be a repeat of an earlier jump in your training, it may be a repeat of the Cat C-2 or D-1 (in the courses pre-ISP it was called Lvl 4 and 5).

If the jump goes well you should go right back up to the point you where at prior to your break.

  12. The PSA are provided to the AFRTS (RTPO). The RTPO doesn't use us for the PSA's or for the Locally produced AFN spots.

With the exception of the "JoB Spots" (pride in service, mos, units etc) all the "talent" is "proffesional" actors. :$

The radio spots is where some of the big names have worked. In TV we have a few former stars working in the 08 and 09 packages. Since we are not affected by strikes we some times see "almost big names" calling us looking for work suring strikes.

The first part of 08 is just now hitting the air waves.

  13. I would have to look around the office Monday, unless you want to google it and see if thee is a note in wikepedia or something.

I thought it was still "Armed" when I was active (Retired Oct 31 2007) , but found all the headers and paperwork here when I started this job (March 2008) to say "American". I am guessing it was after 2001/2002 when we, as a country, happened to need access to countries through other countries who are not to fond of the idea of us infedels being there and "armed".

It used to be "Armed" now it is "American Forces Network", part of the "American Forces Radio Television Services". It was re-named in a PC attempt to not upset the host nations:S.

  15. There are some new ones coming out that are pretty decent.

There are 3 different sources for the spots.
    1. The PSA's (ever one hates them)
    2. The Locally produced ones from the AFN Production Office (some times one dude and a PC with a lap top)
    3. The US Produced Ones for the RTPO (AFRTS)- these are the good ones (actually produced through a production company that has done movies, TV shows and Documentaries)

The recruiting/retention ones are there for that exact reason, to recruit and retain. Think of the Blue to Green Program and Green to Gold Program.

The "Pride in Unit" spots are to help advertise the other units in each service. Every one knows of SF, SEAL's, Force Recon or PJ's, but how about the US Navy Marine Mammal Program? Most know of the Thunderbirds but, other than here and a close knit bunch, who knows the Black Daggers?

You could always send us a list of the likes and dislikes, it will help us to keep your attention in relaying the info the DoD wants to ensure you have.

I know where your coming from, I saw them on and off for 21 years from your point of view.
