  1. ThanX for your answers I'll B staying at the GayLord Palms Hotel: http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordpalms/ but without really knowing Florida I could never tell where to go or where is the right place for me (which DZ is near, does it worth it to travel a-bit for few days to C a DZ which suits me better or even where to stay - doesn't have to b in the GayLoard Palms Hotel) So far I was recommended by few of my Israeli friends who jumped there to either go to: Lake Wales, The Space Center, Deland - to visit the RWS factory (got a 10 jumps old Micron V306 -) or - as for as the Sebastian DZ - It sounds like a small DZ compared to all others but again I might B mistaking.... Thing is that ponds and KingAirs are not just fine 'cos we don't have any in Israel and I'll love to try it out but for me being around good easy to deal with FFly people is much more important. My opinion is that I should take advantage of this chance of traveling and taking as many advance FF coaching I could take ($$) and B on as many big FF loads around. Which DZ do you thing has the best to offer? Which DZ is the closest DZ to the Florida wind tunnel? That's sure a must :) Ta, David Mor
  2. Hi guys, I'm a Israeli jumper (into FF and Swoops, 'bout 500 jumps currently on a 120 Katana) planing on visiting some family in Florida and got about 5 days to spend doing what I love. BUT Problem is that other then X-keys I know of no other DZ in the States and wanted to know whether you guys have any offers or recommendation as for DZs in Florida that I might find attractive. (again - FF and Swoops maybe even a pond) Any suggestions? BTW - from my search, here, there was not much I could find: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/calendar/search.cgi?d=1&query=Florida&bool=and&substring=0&mh=25 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/calendar/search.cgi?Start_Date=4&d=1 ThanX for your time, David Mor
  3. ThanX for your worries guys and just to start off with, NO, I’m not (at least at the moment) after the Velo. Sorry for taking the time with replaying your posts. Work work and errr... more work but I’m happy with what this thread became off. As most of you probably saw, I’m currently flying (very happily) my Vision and loving every min of it! It gives a lot of confidence and recover beautifully from any front raisers turns (may it B 180, 270...) to a long stable long flared swoop. As McD’ say: "I’m loving it" -) The question came from comparing the Velo to my next canopy, Katana 120, that I’ve just ordered. Being the closest wing to a X-braced a person like me can allow himself to fly without getting himself into corners he won’t be able to dig his way out of (although totally different in almost all areas - I know) I wanted to compare WL to the Velo as I went for the Katana for the purpose of focusing myself on becoming a better swooper with what I see as the natural step before acquiring the "1,000 jumps" mark (or so) and playing with the "big boys". SPIZZZARKO - I do put 110% of myself in every single landing but the Velo is still few steps ahead of me. JT-MIRAGE - You are so right as for the same canopies behaving different (not necessarily good or bad, all depending on what you want out of it as long as you’re within the recommended WL) under various WL and it seems that the answer is not absolute and each person has his own preferences and what he feels comfortable with. DANCINGFLAME - you are right and as mentioned above, at the moment I’m not after a Velocity. SKYMONKEYONE - Well said chuck! I share the same way of thinking that a person should unleash the full potential of his current canopy, especially when considering moving from a non-X Braced ones to something like the Velo, before taking the mentioned step and thinking that would make him more competitive. Right on!. FREEFLI - They call Tel-Aviv "the small apple" -). Here in that sense it’s not so different from that way it works in the states (having jumped there) and without mentioning any names from obvious reasons - we have our own share of X Braced pilots who (for a lot of the "big boys" opinions) have no business with flying their canopies. They do land each and every time (and we all happy ‘bout it) but as Chuck said - they give you the feeling like they have no control over what their doing. Ho well, that’s another way of spending 2K. An elliptical canopy is much more forgiving if you make mistakes during your progression but the added disadvantage is that in order for your canopy to plain out and recover naturally for a long nice swoop without the need of you pulling on your rears, or brakes, and by that slowing it’s progression - a X Braced canopy (although will recover naturally at the end) "needs" you to "tell" it when to plain out from the dive (whichever way you choose - by pulling down/ apart the rears or by the use of braking) and will not lose it’s speed (with regards to Non X Braced ones) as much. Progression and experience is everything (well common sense too -) and a lot of people does need to reflect on how safe and experienced good pilots they are before recollecting on how to survive the next jump. The CF2 is a dam good 9-cell elliptical canopy especially when considering the way it stays straight and recover beautifully from its dive but from my own little experience (jumping the 129) you need to load it a bit more with regards to other "high performance" canopies out there on the market and in order for me to get to that WL I need few hundreds of jumps more. That’s just my way of thinking. And it’s not that I’m walking toward the "Red carpet"-). Few canopy schools internationally, swooping schools, lots of canopies from different types and sizes on my logbook (including already jumping the Katana 120 few times) and my own common sense and desires made me feel and B aware of my landings and what is (always) the "next step" and "next step" for me. I cherries life very much - thank you very much - and got people who care for me 24/7. But I truly appreciate the concern. Blues and safe (long..) landings, David Mor
  4. Hi ya guys One Q plz, What's the recommended wingloading for the Velo. (120 for my Q)? What will be underloading it? and, what will be then overloading it? (ie. when will iy fly shit? :) Cheers 4 your answers, Dave. David Mor
  5. I had the Infinity in mind mate not a bad opt at all BUT what I say is that if I should decide between this one and the Vector3, I think the SkyHook system answer the queation for me. Still, a damm fine rig this Infinity mate David Mor
  6. ALL RIGHT GUYS, A G A I N, THANX 4 THE WORRIES BUT THIS CAN B DONE VIA PM So now back to the question - we're not talking 'bout the size of my canopy but the question is: Giving the opportunity to go for a new rig without the worries of costs and time, which one would you (-jp-, skybytch, Skylee, riggerrob or any other person here) opt 4? ThanX for your time. David Mor
  7. ThanX 4 caring but almost all of those jumps were done in the past year on a Saber 150, Stileto 120 and my current Vision. BTW - I can not remember how to land a canopy not using the front raisers Cheers ORI - got'chya :) but that's off the topic, which container would you recommend and Y? I want to hear some thoughts from ya guys comm'on ... David Mor
  8. OK guys, thanX 4 the replies so far. Skylee pinoy- what's that got to do with my question?! next time plz PM. Riggerrob- I know Shlomi is a PD dealer but he knows that I'm not buying the gear from him as well of being well aware to the fact that we all in Paradive DZ aware of his personal interest. All he claims (and I have no other reason Y not 2 believe him) that he prefer the PD one and if I'll might add - lately I've been talking to ppl like Boaz Goren and others that had the "privilege" of a Techno ride and were totally not impressed. They all claimed that the Techno reserve does not feel as stable as the PD one. I can only speack out of my own personal experience that the PD reserve rides gives much confidence, the opening are dead on headings and from what I know the PD reserve canopies are built to sustain faster speeds on opening rather then what P de F state. have you got (maybe) anything else that might enlight me? :) Ori NashNashon- Shlomi knows all about my thoughts (and reeds here all the time) but it's not an issue. I've told him all about what I wrote here B4. One more thing mate - I think I got all of my trust in Mordi who gave me his permission to go for this gear so it seems that (counter to what you might think) my landings are well safe, accurate and consistent. DON'T WORRY
  9. Hi guys, So the thing is that I'm in the process of purchasing a new rig (yhiiiiiiii :) but I got no clue which one to go 4. What I expect from my new gear is that first it will be safe to fly (FF bla bla) and should have the all important ISO. Here in Israel we're not allowed to jump anything that is not ISO'de. Then, the rig has 2 B as compact as possible so my new main canopy (Katana 120) and the 113/115 reserve should be able to B squeezed it tightly (jumping smaller mains later on). Here we have another issue - should I go for something like the triple zero (000) of Parachute De France which is rather small but should have in it the Techno reserve rather then a PD one (which is good but my rigger - Shlomi Perl from Paradive Israel - claims that it's not as good as the PD reseve one) or because of the fact that I might not be able to sell it later on in life (European gear Vs the US type) AND due to loading the reserve (I'm above the recommended loading limit of the 115 Techno reserve but under the 113 PD reserve limit) should I opt then for the American options? So far I've jumped my Javelin (3 years, fits nice not small enough), the latest Vortex2 (nice around the legs and shoulders but the container is not the smallest around) and the Vector 3 /308 (and yp, the 306 with the Skyhook system is not a bad option at all). Any idea guys? Cheers ppl, David Mor
