  1. I'm a college jumper here at MSU (Montana State University - Bozeman). I too started JUST before I went to college and am finally just 3 jumps away from my A! I think, for me, the reason I'm a little more reserved in the air is that 1) I don't have a lot of money (do any of us?) and 2) I'm still early in the learning process. Still its a lot of fun and I'm trying to round up a group of people near Bozeman so we can try to start a club or something, but it's hard. I must say though, when exams come around and you need to get the stress off, I just skydive and it makes everything all better! ;)

We took a straight shot last year after Natonals and it took us about 15 minutes to figure out if we were going to puke!

Oh do I know what you mean. We tried the sugar and stuff and finally got tired of doin that so a friend and I finished off a bottle drinking it straight. It tasted exactly like black licorice and smelled rank, so needless to say I had to chase that nasty stuff down with water half the time. Still got me pretty f'ed up!

I'd also be curious to know how many of my brothers and sisters are out there skydiving...hell, I'd consider starting up a club, like Pigs Can Fly or something....

Sorry I don't know of any clubs out there, but I'm an EMT in the EMS field over here in beautiful Montana!

  4. I did my first tandem on my 18th birthday and then went into AFF because it was soo fun!!! I'm still working on it, but I find a way to pay for it even though I'm still trying to work my way through college! :)

  5. I jump at Lost Prairie as my home DZ (WooHoo!) and there is pretty much no cell coverage at all. I switched from cell one to verizon because of cell one's crappy service and I know I don't get service at LP (on verizon), but just like everyone else said, who needs it! You're at LP, it's time to forget about everything and have fun and jump!

  6. Hey all, recently at work I've been glowing about how much I love skydiving, blah blah blah and all I get from everyone is flak. Now I know most of it is just fun and games but I want some way to comeback on what they say. People are always telling me that "it's a dangerous sport" and "you only have fun because you're still alive" and "skydivers are cocky because they think they're better than everyone." I don't think that these are true, and like I said, I'm sure half of them are good ole' jokes but seriously, I need some ammo to fire back! Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;)

  7. I would absolutely recommend tandem first. As most everyone else has stated, and I felt the same way, doing a tandem first gets all of that "sensory overload" sensation out of the way, plus you already have a feel for the skydive and what it will be like next time. Another bonus I experienced at my home DZ (lost prairie ;)) was that I received a discount on my AFF course because I had done a tandem first! Enjoy and good luck.

  8. Sounds good! One thing I just recently learned about the whole skydiving experience is that it just takes time. It wasn't until my 9th jump that I actually felt comfortable...my legs were getting looser and in the right position, I was arching more and had an overall more relaxed body position. Just keep jumping! You'll get the hang of it. Good luck!

  9. I've been trying to get my brother to jump ever since I first tried it, but on my 18th birthday, my mom did a tandem with me and it was awesome. There is definately something about family that really feels special while skydiving! That's my 2 cents.

  10. Caffeine really isn't bad for you, as long as you don't overdose on it, which is very hard to do by the way. If you continually drink caffeine, NOT drinking it for about a week after is almost more harmful to you for that week that drinking it, of course after that you're good to go! Although caffeine has proven to be an addictive drug, it has not been proven to decrease a person's physical health. Caffeine isn't necessarily bad for you, then again, it isn't something that every person should be addicted too either! :)

  11. Hey all, I might be moving to Michigan in the next few months, Ann Arbor, Michigan to be exact. Well, I was browsing around this site and the Internet in general looking for DZ's in or near Ann Arbor and as you all know, even if it's on the Net, it's not always easy to find. So, I was just wondering if anyone knew of DZ's in or near the Ann Arbor, MI area? If so, let me know about them, contact info, and any experience you've had with them, if any. All help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  12. No kidding, sometimes when I'm heading back I even forget I'm driving and all of a sudden I realize that I'm headed for the ditch, luckily I catch myself before that happens, of course maybe it's just cause I space out all the time anyway! ;)

  13. Of course it's hard to not speed, of course I can never seem to obey the speed limit if I'm skydiving or not but that's besides the point! I think after all that adrenaline and the rush everytime you go, there is just nothing left to push you to do anything crazy on the way home! B|

  14. All I can say is that I started my skydiving in LP, will continue it here and can't wait this year for the boogie. I go whenever I can (albeit I live only about 80 miles away) and it is beautiful country, wanna know why they call it the BIG SKY country, well then come by and check it out! LP all the way.
