Everyone who knows us is or has seen us together gets it!! :) We're not silly teenagers anymore... I'm turning 35 in a week and he turns 45 in Jan... No one is taking advantage of anyone :D:D:ph34r:

You're both grownups and you're both done "playing games." I think you'll be quite happy together. Wishing you all the best. :)

    Thanks John :)

    ******Congrats.

Weren't you trying to meet people through online dating just 6 weeks ago? Must have worked pretty well! ;)

What can I say? It's very simple: we fit together and it just feels right. :)

    Fuck.

I hate being the asshole. :(

I don't know you and I really hope it works out for you, but from your posts recently I'm concerned you're vulnerable and may be in a position to being taken advantage of.

A few months is REALLY fast to 'know' someone enough to make a decision to spend the rest of your life together.

Just, be careful, Nataly. I hope your friends are giving you not only moral support but good advice. That isn't always the same as being a cheerleading squad.

Besides... I don't choose my friends because they are a "cheerleading squad"... My friend are my friends because they have the balls to tell me what they think - just like you did ;)

  4. Yep... It's true... I am coming off the market :o:)
We will be making a more "formal" announcement (via Facebook and all that jazz) after Christmas, once he has officially asked my dad for his "permission" in person... Tradition is tradition!!! Sooooooo can't wait to hear all about how that goes!!! :D:D:ph34r:

Can't even begin to describe how over the moon we both are to have found each other :)

  5. Hi guys! Looking for some musical inspiration...

Am doing a video from footage taken from a pretty wild birthday party and looking for a very upbeat (but not annoying) song to set it to.

    Ideas please !!!!

  6. Hiya fuck-face! Glad you're still hanging in there!!

Don't be mad at the gf for fucking off when the shit hit the fan - be thankful she is gone sooner rather than later... Fairweather friends are fine to have as friends as long as you know they won't stick around when you need them... But your gf/fiancé/wife should be a *real* friend who helps you through the tough times. Let go and move on.

As for the job, don't let them get away with it.

And finally, yes, the timing on everything has been bad... Sometimes when everything crumbles at once it is a sign that your lifestyle wasn't as balanced as you thought. Pick up the pieces one by one, fix the things you can, appreciate the steps you make in the right direction and forgive yourself when you have a few setbacks... It's a process... You do have people who care about you - that's a good start :)

  7. I could fill pages and pages with some of the stuff I have gotten/seen!!

Thing is, even if I find a lot of these guys weird and/or creepy, I cannot deny that the entertainment factor is pretty hard to beat!!! :D:D:ph34r:

I wonder if what she thought was important in a partner has changed over those 4 years?

I don't know... I know he was commitment-phobic in the beginning and she was thinking about marriage and kids and buying a house together very early on... They seem to have met somewhere in the middle. It hasn't been without its ups and downs of course, but overall they seem pretty good/happy together.

  9. My best friend joined a running club... Her intent was to meet like-minded people... It's where she met her boyfriend about 4 years ago... They now own a house together and are trying for a baby.

Personally, I'm not putting all my energy into online dating... I think it's filled with a wide variety of different kinds of people and *can* be a way to meet singles... But there are SO many factors that make you compatible (or not) with someone - the reality is that "being single" may be the only thing you have in common with a lot of these people!!! :D:D And to make matters worse, some people on there aren't even single!! :|

  10. I'm not claiming that all people online are reclusive anti-social hermits that spend all their time in front of a computer screen... But very active people tend NOT to waste a lot of time doing that... So you are probably right that the websites are not full of the kind of girl you may be after. You may have to continue your adventurous lifestyle and hope that whilst you are out there you will bump into a like-minded person.

    I'm just sayin'...

***I had no idea a single space had become the "official" norm. I don't like it. >:(

Uh, Oh! You have officially become old, according to the youngsters, here. [:/]

p.s. I can't make my fingers think that only one space feels right either.

Yeah, if that recruiting software is filtering out 34 year olds... God help us all!!!

online dating... I thought it was just for the shagging :$
some people take that stuff seriously ?

There is a bit of everything. Some sites are just about shagging and some not.

I'm now trying to decide if online dating it is worth the effort.

Dude... Kinda sounds like you're not ready to be dating at all right now... [:/]

Don't worry, we've all done it - or been on a date with someone who wasn't quite presenting their best self... It's great that you're putting yourself out there, but there's also nothing wrong with taking a break. Might do you some good. You can get back into the game again when you feel up to it. :)

So, then, if you realize you blacklist people for the most random things, why don't you stop doing it?

Admitting it is the first step, isn't it? :P

You live in France....Just get out and meet people... join a sailing club... do something crazy;)

It could be worse..... good thing I rarely drink

I work around nerds and geeks with the social acumen of a gnat:|

Part of the problem *is* where I live... I'm in a place where MOST people are either:
    - retired (so of my grand-parents' generation)
    - tourists (so leaving in a week or so)
    - uber rich (that is all kinds of "special!")
    - French (d'uh! And not that this is a good or a bad thing but culturally and compatibility-wise I find it a bit tricky)

Add to that the fact that I *already* have a very full schedule... Picking up a new activity would mean giving up a current one... It's not that it can't be done, more like I'm pretty much already "getting out there."

I am of course making broad, sweeping generalisations that do NOT apply to everyone... However my point being: it's not as easy as one might think.

ETA - you think living in geeksville is "special"?? Try living in la-la-land!!! :D:D

    I'm confused.

Do you like him, or is he something you scraped off the bottom of your shoe? *shrug*

I guess what I am feeling is that it's easy to dissmiss someone online without really having much to go on... Trouble is that after you've been "open-minded" for a while and been on coffee dates with every kind of wrong person imaginable (and some your limited imagination could not have dreamt up), you feel more and more reluctant to give a guy a chance. Which is not great, really. Perhaps guys feel different frustrations. I don't know - I don't have a penis :D:P

    ***Apart from all of it...

It's so dehumanising. Seriously. I just blacklist people for the most random things... Oh - that guy is wearing a hat in one of his pics... Who wears a hat??? What a pretentious douche. Blacklist that motherfucker ASAP.

    Litterally.

I would NEVER behave that way toward a person who was actually standing in front of me. I'd probably find the hat charming.

    *sigh*

That sounds more about you than "online dating"

You have litterally just proven my point. The online thing is dehumanising. I doubt you'd behave in real life to me the way you do on here.

  17. I can relate to some of that. In terms of the window of opportunity, I do think there was one guy in my past I should have tried harder to keep... I do think I am happier now than I ever have been, so I'm not very keen to mess that up. (!) However the grass is always greener is not something I personally feel... More like the grass seems like it's brown everywhere... You can try to pick a lawn and water it and *maybe* it will turn out to be green (ish).

You could come to the weekly meeting of the Nataly Stalkers Club.
    You might meet someone interesting.;)

Dear lord, the meetings are weekly?? Nothing happens to me in 1 week!! Surely bi-annual meetings are enough to suss out whether I am still living in froggy-land or not and how many cats now own me...

It may also just be me, but as I get older I seem to meet more and more Great Older people out there.. They look different than the "fresh new ones" but are often a joy to be around.. Say - like talking to them...;)

I see you know what you're talking about.

My appearance+mindset+status is not compatible with what is available.
We know it, so we'll change some of it and get into different.

    Good luck to us ;)

Sort of... I mean, I don't want any set of specific things... But some things, to me, are important. Like for instance, it's bad if the person doesn't let you be you. It's good if the person does. And it's AWESOME if they actually encourage/inspire you to become even more you - like a better version of who you are already.

If the guy doesn't agree with me on everything, that's fine - it's even a good thing, because it pushes me to view things from a different perspective. But I really don't want to settle for someone who is SO different in their mindset that I can just *barely* tolerate them when they speak... That is not the goal...

I don't kmow... I guess to sum up, I want things to be *better* with this person than on my own. And I'm pretty content on my own, so it kinda seems like a tall order!!! :D:D:D
