What kind of switch are you using with the xt ? Is that the new digital from canon ? I figured they used the same plug type as the 10-d and 20-d?
I might be wanting the switch you made ,if ya did a nice job puttin it together ?LOL! I am sitting here as i type working on just that .I am also mounting that button inside my helmet for the tally light .I drilled a hole for it to fit in . Now i need to figure out what for cement to use to hold it inside the helmet.

I would use the cookie black box due to ease of use .You'll be able to access your screen and stuff without taking things apart.With the clamshell ,gotta lay your helmet down while you mess with videoing inside the plane and stuff with the camera out of your helmet .You might want to consider waiting awhile before jumping video anyways ,your experience is a bit soon for camera .

The sync speed on that camera is 200th if you shoot auto ,but you can shoot it high speed sync on the flash unit and choose your shutter settings on the camera in shutter priority.

Bonehead flat top pro is the only helmet to own as far as i'm concerned. As for lense for your digital still the sigma 15 mm fisheye around $399.00 new ..

WHATEVER YOU DO (DON'T) BUY THE CANON 15 MM FISHEYE LENSE ,I JUST GOT RID OF A NEW ONE AND TOOK A BEATING ON IT .TRADED IT IN FOR THE SIGMA 15MM ,IT'S A GREAT LENSE .THE CANON HAS A FOGGING ISSUE DUE TO IT'S THICKNESS OF LENSE AND EXTREME CURVED SHAPE OF THE OUTSIDE LENSE! IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY FOR THE CANON

stay away from the canon 15mm fisheye because it has a fogging problem .i just got rid of a brand new one traded it off for the sigma 15mm fisheye u can get the sigma from adaorama camera for $375.00

try the nikon coolpix , i think the 5000 and 5700 have a kit u can buy online to use a standard plugin that is the same as the rebel -g plugin
