  1. Only requirement is to pack it and jump it ONCE, and you really don't even have to jump it just pack it. I packed my first time, asked my buddy if he thought I should jump it or unpack it and pack it again. Packer said no I had to jump it buddy said he thought I should unpack it and do it again. I said Nah I am gonna jump it. Packer said you know where your reserve is right. Said Yep Buddy said unpack it. I said nah gonna jump it and he asked what I was gonna do, Said hop-n-pop he said unpack it and do it again. Needless to say I jumped from 3500 pulles at 2700 it opened. Now I never have to pack again unless for some strange reason there isn't someone around to take my $5!

  2. Long depth breaths! Trust your training. Run throw your body position if you start to spin again amking slow adjustments. Check your altitude. remember your hard deck. Altitude is your friend!!!!

I spun on my first release and the JM had to fly in and stop my spin. I thought he had grabbed me but he told me once on the ground all he did was stop the spin which made me feel allot better.

I have since ended up in a very violent spin at 4000 feet and because of my training and that first experiance I was able to ovewrcome the initial "OH SHIT what do I do NOW" and relax and take care of the first problem"the spin" and still deploy stable slightly under 3k.

Try to hold a conversation on the plane to keep your mind off the last jump. Take the time in the plane to make several PRCP's and your Red,Silver practices. and again BREATHE deep and envision a perfect jump.

  4. I read on the USPA web site that an instructor was killed from getting kicked in the head during deployment. Be very mindful what your body is doing when other flyers are around you.

I got kicked square in the face while doing a rodeo with my buddy while he was "dis-mounting". It sent me into a violent spin at 4000 blood from my split lip covered my goggles and all I could think was my face was now hamburger. but then reality kicked in and I realized I had much bigger problems then what my face was going to look like. :S I relaxed got the spin under control and pulled around 2900.
Amazing how your training kicks in and time seems to slow down when you know that the shit has just hit the fan.

Needless to say we arn't doing anymore rodeos in the forseeable future ( but they sure are a BLAST!)

Anytime your flying with someone shit can happen so relax trust your training don't rush your movements and everyone will live to jump again.

  5. I waited 2 weeks between 3 and 4 and two weeks betwen 4 and 5. I did 5,6,7,8 all in the same day and what a HUGE difference it made. Each jump got better and better. If you can, make them all the same day as your body and mind will be more focused and relaxed(sounds liek an oxymoron but true) plus you won't be making all those 3 hour drives..;)

  7. Nah you didn't screw up the landing. ;) You lived to jump again so it was a GOOD Landing! And so you don't feel to bad I couldn't hear anything on that damn radio my 3 or 4 or 5th jump and on my 7th I landed over the barb wire fence clear across the airport. The one you can't see from the hangar!:S Just keep watching everyone else and you will be fine.

I am easy to spot at the drop zone. Not to many 6'2" 230 lbs guys running around there. B|

  8. Me=Deathly afraid of heights. I get big time vertigo. Even the Movie Castaway, when Tom Hanks is looking over the cliff, Made my stomach turn.

First 21 or 22 jumps every single time I got on the plane I swore it was going to be my last as I HATED being on it but once that door came open it was like "Ok now I REMEMBER why i got on this damn thing!"

I still never want to ride DOWN with the plane. Prefer to get the F^%^ out and get to the ground first.:)
No one can ever truly describe to you what you are going to experiance but I know it changed my life.

  9. It will change your life! Enjoy the fear and anxiety while you can because once it goes away you will miss it. I didn't understand that when one of my instructors told me that but now I understand.
