  1. Perhaps a good rule of thumb might be to understand the equipment you're jumping, and follow the manufacturer's recommendations. This avoids the potentially thorny issue of you being technically a test jumper. Maybe someone could let us know whether a rigger can repack a reserve into a container that contains an out-of-date CYPRES, given that it's (imho) unserviceable? Does it have to be like that, or can we keep moving forward? L. As i wrote in another post, no rigger in Denmark would pack a 12 year old Cypres with a reserve. In Denmark we follow the recomendations from the manufacturer´s, simple as that. When you wrote this post, did you have in mind that the people we are trying to help, dont have the same gear and finacially resources as we do ? They jump in gear wich you and I, would never jump. They jump AAD´s that "might work" or none at all. No, it don´t have to be like that, and yes we should keep moving forward. You and i do, because we are fornutate enough to have the money to be jumping "the latest and greatest gear". But these guys are jumping gear that resembles gear from the 1970-1980´s. And we can help them moving forward, by doing this. Allan PS: Can someone post some correct info on your gear, i´ve only seen the picture here.
  2. Well i don´t agree. These units have been manufactured to last and have been trough extensive test´s trough it´s lifetime. The only reason why Airtech will not support them any more is because. 1. Yes they are getting older, and some of them will eventually stop working. It will only be a FEW that cannot last another 4 years. But it only take a few faulty Cypres´s to get a bad reputation, and they dont want that. 2. To make more money The units have a extensive selftest that probably would find the few units that will go bad. No electronics stop working because someone tell´s it 12 years old (I´m educated in electronics, and have been working with electronic production for several years). I´ve seen a lot of FXC missfires, and none of them were anywere near killing someone. Yes a missfire could be possible dangerous 300 km. headdown , someone 20 meter above you . And the list go on and on, but aint it like that in this sport ? I still say, i would rather jump a 12 year old Cypres anyday, than a brand new FXC or some other crap. Bottom line, AAD´s save more lifes than they take
  3. Hi In Denmark where i live, you cannot jump a 12 year old Cypres. So there will be some out datede models soon
  4. Hi Sounds like a great idea, to collect and donate gear to our fellow skydivers. I´m thinking about all the 12 year old Cypress wich cannot be jumped legally in most countries after their 12 year. Could they be jumped in some countries ? They will probably work well for another 4 years, with only a battery change. I know that Airtech will probably say NO, they cannot . But we all know why . I don´t now the rules in other countries, but if it would be a choice of jumping with nothing (or some crap) or a outdated Cypres, i know what my choice would be any day. Just a tought. Best Regards Allan (fortunate enough to jump with a Cypres2)
  5. Hey There must be more people out there that have some info, come on now Allan R.
  6. Hey I have sunglasses in dark yellow wich are polariod, so yes you can get them. I´ve even seen them in blue! To my knowlegde it should be possible to make them in any color. Allan
  7. Well in Denmark it´s very easy ! We have to jump with a AAD, acording to the Danish Skydiving federation rules. That makes it very easy to "chose" But i wouldent jump without it if i had the choice. I seen a cypres save, and this guy also tought he could pull his handles. But he could NOT. So no matter how sure you think you are on your self and your abilities, there can be situations where you come out short. Seen people in freefall, crash into a open parashute, and hitting the person under it! The bottom line is, a Cypres save lifes
  8. Hey there I´m looking for a pair of glasses / goggels for jumping. They must be polaroid (since i like i a lot :-). Color of glass must be smoke / yellow. Do any of you know of any wich is good for jumping ? I´t cannot be ordinary sunglasses, since i´m jumping with contact lenses, and they have to block most of the air out! Links, brands anything will be appreciated. Thanx Allan
  9. Hi I have not yet Psycho Packed the Xfire2, that is why I startede this thread
  10. I agree, i have over 300 Psycho Pack´s on my old Safire, and never a problem. From time to time a funny opening, but that could also happen on a Pro Pack. I have had one reserve ride, and that was NOT a Psycho Pack. The reason why people Psycho Pack, is not because thay cannot get it in the bag Pro packing. It´s beause they have seen they "light", and there is a easier way to control your canopy. Why it´s called a Psycho Pack ? I don´t know, but it can only be because of idiots, who can not see if a canopy is twisted 180 or 360 degrees I´ll give it a try and Psycho Pack my Crossfire2 in the near future. Thanks Allan
  11. Hi I have been searching the forum and the net for Psycho packing Crossfire2 and did not really find much. Yes i know that Icarus don´t recommend it, and yes i know that some people have had crappy openings. But is there some of you guys and girls out there, that have some real experience (and not a jump or two, wich sucked). I´ve used to Psycho pack my Safire, and never had any problems. I know jump a Crossfire2 119 sq loaded at 1.55 Just looking for info before i will try to Psycho pack the Crossfire, if at all ! Thanks Allan
  12. Hi I want to mount my Olympus E-10 on my flat top helmet. I´m looking for a quick release (not cutaway) so i can mount and unmount the camera easy. I´m looking for the best quality for the lowest price :-) What do you use ? Any links, brands and so on will be appriciated. Thanks Allan
