  1. Would someone mind helping me with an asking price for the following gear? Mirage G4 M2 (fully articulated with unisyn, stainless, hip&chest rings, etc..) Precision Aero Nitron 150 PD Dash-M reserve 150 5 yr old Cypres already had 4 yrs service&batteries This entire rig is brand new with approx 50 jumps. Any ideas as to what I should be asking? I have no idea how much this stuff depreciates. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the suggestions and input. I called Mirage this morning and spoke with Kim about it. It seems to be a pretty minor issue so I'm not going to worry about it too much. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the fit of the rig. They seem to have some great customer service.
  3. Hey guys. I recently got my first rig... Mirage G4, fully articulated, and I'm extremely paranoid and obsessive about every little fit, so excuse me if this question seems silly... The waste webbing piece consistently is slightly bunched at the top when I have the harness fully tightened down. Here is a picture to show what I'm talking about. http://home.midsouth.rr.com/groove/images/Brown_Robertson_G4.jpg Does that look like a proper fit, or a minor misfit that is anything that I need to worry about? Everything feels great about the rig and I'm having no problems whatsoever but I just wanted to check, since if I need anything readjusted, now is the time to have it done by Mirage. This might work out for the best because I can't imagine any other configuration where this would be fixed without the container sitting slightly higher on my back, and I have a hard enough time reaching the pilot chute with it sitting just where it is. I work out quite a bit and have big arms which makes it difficult for me to reach back and grab the (BOC) pilot chute sometimes.(Please no jokes, lol) I'm probably just being overly paranoid since it's my first rig...
  4. Been there, done that. You'll feel better after awhile, and so will your dad. I got a chem degree, planning on following in daddy's footsteps as a doctor, and decided directly after graduation that I wanted to work with computers. I'm now finishing my masters in MIS this spring and have been working in IT for a few years now. Life goes on. Hang in there You've gotta do what makes you happy.
  5. Thanks for all the comments As far as the dirt cleaning goes...... Is a damp rag safe to wipe it off with, or should I stick with a stiff brush only? I keep hearing differing opinions. I think the reason I was originally told not to use anything damp was the worry of getting the reserve wet. I'm going to try using a brush first. Ah well. I chose dark and neutral colors for this very reason, and to also make it easier to sell when that day comes. Oh, and the main is a Nitron 150. Brand new and a bitch to pack since it's the max limit of the sizing of my container (M2).
  6. http://home.midsouth.rr.com/groove/images/new_rig.jpg Brand new! And before anyone starts asking... Yes that's dirt on the rig, yes I busted my ass yesterday on my brand new rig. Good thing I got dark colors! I'm still happy that I went with new equipment, even if it's my first rig. The only regrets are...... Ugh I'm so much in debt now. Between school and skydiving.....sigh. At least I can have a smile on my face on the weekends while this thing is on my back, because I'm going to have a grimace on my face the rest of the time...
  7. Hey, I'm a new jumper buying my first rig, and have opted to buy a new container, but everything else used. I'm just curious as to what the average life is in canopies? Is purchasing a used canopy for your first rig a good idea? I'm seeing a few with 4-600 jumps and just wondering how much total life a canopy usually has, and if I should be worried with one that has that many jumps on it. Thanks, Brown.
  8. I hope this is in the right forum, but I'm just curious as a new jumper, how many jumps did you guys have before worrying about mounting camera's on your helmet and doing camera work? I'm certainly too new to be worrying about that anytime soon, but I'd like a general opinion so I can have something to look forward to. Thanks.
  9. Hey everyone. I've been lurking these forums for awhile and thought I'd finally introduce myself. I finished AFF over the past couple of weekends, and am so hooked on skydiving. It's all I can think about, and I've only jumped 8 times! I had no idea it would be this addicting. I can't really put my finger on it, but it's been exhilerating and spiritual for me in a lot of ways, and I know it will only get better. Anyway, I'm a newb so far and so I'd love any suggestions that you guys/girls have on gear. I'm shopping for a rig, and talked with a jumpmaster enough to get a tentative idea of what I should be looking for. I thought I'd run it past you all also, and see what you think. I weigh 165-170lbs , 5'10 and am looking at a Javelin Odyssey. The jumpmaster suggested a 170 sq ft. canopy and said I would probably have fun with that size and wouldn't be sick of it for awhile. So, I'm looking at a 170 sq. ft. PD sabre 2 canopy as my main, and PD reserve. Any opinions on this rig combination? I want something I can kind of grow into, and won't be sick of after 200 jumps. I really enjoy canopy time, so I'm curious as to what canopies you guys would recommend. I'm going to talk with the JM's a bit more this weekend, but I'd like to get it ordered as soon as possible because I understand it takes 4-6 weeks to build, and these telesis 2's and sigma's are killing me;) Anyway, it looks like a great community in here, and thanks for any suggestions in advance!
