    Ok. cool.:D

Oh, I see, you think you were making some sort of clever point.

    Hardly.

The financing of film goes well beyond the box office and the price of a box of popcorn doesn't have anything to do with it at all. That's all on the theater owners which are a completely separate entity.

so very true. one film I worked on cost 98 million to make, and 30 million in promotional cost, at least that is what was reported by the accountant to me, and they do all kinds of things with numbers. but, the movie went to DVD at only 30 million in box office receipts. "What Dreams May Come." too heavy for the public, and as the producer said, "it was a caviar dinner for a hamburger eating audience."

  2. History is repeating itself. During the "first" great depression, movies became very popular. Society needed an escape, and the price of a flick at that time was very cheap. Actually it still is today. I am going to take in a matinee, only $5, and I will bring my own water.

Coming home, unpacking and slipping back between those familiar sheets is a whole 'nother kind of happy.

I just tried a trick a friend told me - put fresh sheets on the bed before leaving for vacation. Makes the return that much sweeter. It sure was nice to come home from LP to nice, clean sheets!

yep, I clean the entire house before we leave. also, pay for the vacation up front. it sucks to come home, and then have to pay the bill.

  4. you can die doing .... anything. and people take that for granted every day. do people check there tires before they drive? do people actually pay attention driving? look at the motorcycle scene... chock full of posers. same with hot rods...people go out and "have one built" now a days... but do they know how to change the oil?

fact is, society is dumbing down, and it will spill into any sport. [:/]

Do you run a lot of burnouts or something? You should be getting a lot more miles from a rear. That thing ain't no Busa.

no, its not a Busa, but huge power, and I use it. You know its a 1200 with about 113 hp right? and the Vboost that kicks in at 6000 rpm adds about 10%

Forcing an addict to go to rehab is not the same as one willing to actually stop the behavior and having the desire to stop.
A forced visit to rehab is a joke. Addicts are quite good at playing along.

yep... "those convinced against their will, are of the same opinion still." you've got to want it, with all your heart and soul.

I weight at least 35,000 pounds in a low weight rig, vs. your 3,000 to 4,000 pound car. You.... will.... loose.

    My rig is 32,000+ EMPTY.

I hear ya. This rig I am driving is actually just a baby rig... Ford F450 & 38 foot show trailer. Nice ride though, and it fits on my driveway! :P

The worst offenders are in fact people on the phone.

actually, its that... + they are driving a lowered import, sporting a coffee can muffler and some silly paint job, and they decide to that the right lane is for passing, when I am in the middle, passing another rig. (I contract drive promotional show rigs). Well, they either get lucky and make it by, or get pushed into the shoulder. Damn fuckers, when did the right lane become a passing lane? oh, and a lesson in physics... I weight at least 35,000 pounds in a low weight rig, vs. your 3,000 to 4,000 pound car. You.... will.... loose.

    Another good point...

I can almost count on the HD motor cops to lower the radar gun and wave - always amazed how often that happens.
Since switching to boxers, they seem a touch...angry.

    :D:D:D

boxers making you angry? who, us? say it isn't so! (see pic)

Sure they create some additional heat through friction and resistance, but it is minimal.

Way more heat created by manmade structures, roads, driveways, buildings.

Our cities are their own little heat islands!

the cities don't "make" any significant amount of heat, they simply collect it, store it and radiate it longer than the surrounding environment

the mass and color of the roads, sidewalks, building walls and roofs collect the heat all day and slowly radiate it for hours, just put your hand on a stone/brick wall a couple hours after the sun goes down and see how hot it is

i would submit that cities do "make" heat. (but really the energy is here, on the planet, already, we just change its form and location) and this is done through the lighting of the interior of the buildings. when a light "burns" it produces energy in the form of light, and heat (essentially the same, but not viewed as the same). the energy to power the lighting system came from outside the city. this heat must be "moved" to the outside of the building, but remains "in" the city. this "heat" load is small on a home, but take a minute to think about how many lights are in a, say, 30 story building.

i remember this from my thermodynamics classes in school, and having to add the "lighting load" to a calculation to select the proper size cooling equipment for a structure.

Yeah nothing amazing could be much better but your average consumer doesn't like too many different things especially since they really don't understand what is under the hood.

In defense of the common man, most consumers have absolutely no idea how 99.9% of anything they use works or is manufactured.

I was mulling this very fact over the other night while sipping a glass of Scotch. The Scotch is made the same way it has been for over a hundred years. How many other things do you interact with today can honestly claim that?

I don't begrudge innovation or attempting to make a better product, but if they're going to give something a name, it should represent what it really is.

i read your response with a Sean Connery accent/voice....works very well. (never mind, just my random tangent mind thinking out loud.
