  1. Matt Through a £30 Pinnacle 'Dazzle' DV Clip piece of software. I'm amazed at the quality too. The software came with a PCI card and firewire cable plus two CD's containing all the gimmicky stuff. As we speak, I have printed some A4 size videograbs onto glossy paper - they are brilliant quality. 2. These are pulled from the video in Standard Definition. Getting your hand up to press that little button for a still isn't really an option!!! As far as I have been able to establish, there isn't a method of operating the still facility other than by the button so I doubt it will ever be used in the air. 3. This is the UK - we don't get good deals. You name it, we end up paying more for it than anyone else in europe or elsewhere!!! I know you can buy from abroad but spending that amount of cash, I like to see the product before I pay. The wholesaler is fairly local to me and if the camera goes wrong I can 'buttonhole' him in person. ....oh sorry....you wanted the short answer! 5. Thanks - that will stop me wasting my time.....now, where's that Holy Grail thing got to....? Regards paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  6. Not at all.....my knowledge of camera gear is minute. But for example..... Sony PC9 - cannot get the cassette out when it's top mounted. Sony PC106 - cannot get the battery out when it's top mounted. I'm scouring e-bay for a Sony PC that can be bolted on and will 'do everything' it can from that location. The information I'm getting back is forcing me to turn my back on some bargains! Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  7. Can anyone advise me as to which of the Sony PC camcorders can be mounted on a flat top without any need for removal to access all functions. (I want DV in and out and LANC also and no docking stations) Thanks Red Kite NB I'm getting conflicting info from the various reviews I've been checking out hence 'ask the experts'! 8. AN Iraqi General was placed in a sleeping bag head down and smothered to death and the American Sergeant responsible was fined $6000 and given a reprimand - is that justice? I would be interested to know the views of fellow skydivers on this. Before you answer, imagine it is your son or father or brother or cousin etc involved in a war in which they are merely soldiers fighting for their country - remember soldiers just fight , they don't do the politics and who is to say at which rank the politics kick in? Dear doubters Further to my previous - of course he's a skydiver. He jumped out of that balloon at 102,000ft. He holds the world skydiving altitude record. Dummies!!!! Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!

Dear 'Doubting' Monkey Link????? As the saying goes, for those who believe, no explanation is necesary.....for those who don't, no explanation is possible. What next, do you want to see the cutaway pad and reserve handle in his hands and the empty housing in his side??? What happened to faith? In nomini patri et filius et spiritu sanctus. 13. 'Er yes ma'am! I take it that is a little Muffette talkin' there? Regards Paul Muff #1467 Mind you, Flora is also a boys name in the UK amongst the aristocracy. The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  14. Sorry Now you come to mention it, that Johnny Gates guy did say something.......... Regards Paul (M**f#1467) PS Hoorah for me and F**k you!!! The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  15. An English friend of mine came back from some sort of Skydiving Convention (she called it) in the USA. She brought me a T Shirt as a present with a motif on it "The Muff Brothers". It also had some pictures emblazoned on it of very old men with parachutes on their backs. I recently visited the USA and on several occasions whilst walking around in various US cities with my family I heard people shouting 'Hey Asshole' I didn't think for a minute that they were addressing me. However, on the sixth or somesuch occasion my wife stated that she thought otherwise. I ignored them naturally. However another American man then approached me and wound his middle finger up as if with an imaginary winch and said right to my face "You're number one with me pal!" When I challenged his rudeness he said it was because of the T - Shirt. What on earth is going on? Confused! 16. This is Paul from the UK. If anybody out there knows Frank Bender (there must be loads), could you e-mail him and tell him to drop me a line on.... [email protected] Tell him the 'Shakespeare Boys' are looking for him. Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  17. Piisfish He's my little brother and you know what they can be like maybe. I'm just asking the question about swooping. In the UK, bad publicity for the Sport generally can result in grants from the Sports Council being withdrawn and induce political interference and regulation. I think authority tends to start interfering when people keep dying. Our equipment is generally tip-top for reliability these days but to Joe Public and Authority a death is a death. I believe Skydiving is a very safe sport, I just question whether swooping is a means of the sport shooting itself in the foot politically. I managed to break my tib' and fib' doing accuracy a couple of years ago on a PD190 - what do I know? (I know it hurt - a lot!) If you keep swooping - enjoy and be careful - you're braver than me! Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  18. Thanks Andy It's reassuring to know that you're still occupying the prime plot in 'Thinker's Corner'. Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  19. Given the number of injuries and fatalities under functioning canopies, isn't it time we (the Skydiving community) excommunicated Swooping from our Sport. I remind you that we call it Skydiving because that's what we do it for. (Crew Dogs are excused because they don't do it at ground level (generally). Swooping is giving Skydiving a bad name. 20. Jeremy Believe me, I'm not 'pissie' - I'm laughing here! This is the first time I've raised anything on the forum - it's just great that people bother to bung their threepenny worth in! It's good fun! Regards Paul The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  21. Hey Andy I bet you're a class act in a market place! The vendors must fight over you! Regards Paul PS I don't use drugs The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  22. Okay, I surrender. It said dropzone.com but what it really meant was the 'Airtec Appreciation Society'. You've converted me - I'm going to give Airtec the deeds to my house as well as insisting on paying double the current asking price. $1500 for an AAD? It's an absolute disgrace! With the wonderful service Airtec provides, it should be at least $3000. My 4 year old daughter can forget her new party dress. I'm giving the money to that nice man from Airtec. Please forgive me! The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  23. Some valid points. I'm not anti-Cypres, I am anti the price of them. Remember the first rule of the entrepeneur.........don't sell it for what it's worth, sell it for what you can get for it. The latter seems very much in evidence here!!! The probability of being observed is directly proportionate to the stupidity of your actions at the time!
  24. I can buy an electric drill for £15/$27, a DVD player for £45/$81 but a Cypress will cost me £850/$1530. After twenty years of jumping without one, I find that my choice of DZ is shrinking as more and more operators and clubs are making AAD's compulsory. I am about to surrender but the price of these things is ridiculous. I appreciate development costs have to be recouped etc but these prices appear to represent the worst aspects of holding a monopoly on a product. The competition doesn't appear to be able to match Airtec's reputation and so everyone buys the Cypres. How about a little customer power here. Any suggestions? Airtec are extracting the urine here!
