Hi everyone. I love all the advice, opinions, and attitude in these forums. I've been skydiving for a couple years. love it, I'm an addict. I've been reading these forums for a while, I figure it's time I introduce myself and get to know you all.
So, hi everyone! -
Hi everyone. I've been reading these forums for a while and I'm impressed with the advice that you guys give. I've learned a lot just by reading these.
I have a question about my freefly progression. I'm able to fly stable in both a sit and a headdown. The problem is I fall too fast, and everyone I jump with has a hard time keeping up with me. I've watched video of my body position, and as far as I can tell I'm doing everything I can to slow down, especially in a sit. My arms are straight out without being behind me, my legs are wide, everything is at ninety degrees. I'm very stable doing a stradle hd, and I know that when I learn to do a daffly, it will help my fall rate, so I'm not as concerned about that right now. I don't have a ff suit, just ff pants and usually a sweatshirt (the pants aren't real baggy, and are kind of slick). it seems to me that a good thick freefly suit would help me slow down. I've been talking to some of the flyers at the dz, and a couple guys are insistent that I learn to fly my body, not a suit. that makes sense to me, I want to be versatile, but where is the line? When should I say ok, I'm doing everything I can but it's not enough. I'm 5'11", 190 lbs, bigger than most people I jump with. Would it be foolish of me to buy a ff suit to slow down without spending more time trying to slow down with just my body? My main goal is to improve my ff skills.
Thanks for any help.
