Chris maybe you should hold off on posting until you get off student status. Perhaps then you won't keep digging your hole so deep. If you are just posting inflamatory statements just to get a rise out of people then perhaps you shouldn't ever post again. Just my observation and thought. You will get alot of you answers to everything you have posted in the AFF course. When you have made a jump without any instructors help then you will see the "source" of skydiving. It is a whole other monster than tandems. I don't have that much experience myself, and I haven't pissed off as many people as you have. I skydive cause it helps me let go. When the DOOR!!! call goes mind mind clears of everything else except skydiving. For the freefall and the canopy ride down I am freed of all worldly constraints. Besides gravity of course. Perhaps this is just because I am a newbie. Maybe after a few thousand jumps my day to day troubles will follow me out the door too. I sure as hell hope not of course. So how far do you have to drive to surf. Do you just drive out there and drive back? If you are so up tight about spending the night away from home then don't go. I really enjoy it cause it clears my mind. When the door call is made everything come into focus. During the freefall and the canopy ride down there are no worldly problems on my mind. If you are congested air can get trapped in your sinuses and ears. When the plane climbs to altitude the air pressure decreases. The trapped air then expands. It can rupture your ear drum and or many blood vessels in your sinus cavity. That could lead to a very serious sinus infection. Its the reverse of what happens when you scuba dive. I would like to get my D so I can do a HALO jump. I wonder if they will change the requirements from a D equivalent 200 jumps to the new D in September. I can't see myself doing 200 jumps regardless of quality by then anyway. So I will just continue to jump and be happy at this point. Believe those who are seeking truth. Hell at least you tried using something to slow you down. A friend and I used to play Army and jump off the roof and try and roll like they did on tv. We didn't have a clue how to do a true plf, but we thought we did. Luckly no broken bones from it!! What the hell were we thinking??? Believe those who are seeking truth. Yep I can't wait to jump my new to me rig. It is just so much more comfortable just wearing it. The student rigs are just torture devices in disguise. I think they make them like that on purpose. Cool!! My wife just fronted me the money to purchase a used rig. I have to pay her back of course. I can't wait to try it out this weekend. It has to be better than that student rig!!! I have a demo Spectre coming from PD hopefully tomorrow. It would be great to jump it this weekend. I jumped a friends Spectre 190 last weekend. Hello everyone. I am really glad to see this post. No ear surgery here either. I was going to make an appointment to see a doctor if my ears bothered me again after this weekends jumping. I have only been jumping for a few weeks now. When we get done jumping my ears feel blocked too. I try clearing them and it goes away for the most part in a few hours. Then after sleeping one ear seems to be blocked. Then during the day it switches til they both clear after a few hours. I was hoping it was just some kind of congestion. Perhaps it will clear itself up with a couple more weeks of jumping. Believe those who are seeking truth. Doubt those who find it. -Andre Gide
