  1. Wright Brothers Skydiving in Creswell,Or lost their hanger to the City. Here is the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj9BkRMt2cE
  2. I've been looking at making the change to a SMA powered jump plane for 2 years. It's a firewall forward project and not STC'd for the early 182's, at least not yet. Does anyone have any info on getting a field approval for the straight tail 182's? I think it is the way to go if you are small and need to stay piston powered. Not the cheapest but I feel in the long run it will pay off. Just got to bite that first bullet. Reply here or at diverdriver.com
  3. Missed your dropzone on your first two s/l jumps? Sounds like a real bad spot or poor/no ground-to-air communication. By the way, how big is the dz and from what altitude did you jump from adn did the inst. show you the dz from the airplane?
  4. In the April issue of Skydiving, there is an artical about an operator having a $6,600.00 fine imposed by the FAA for jumping through clouds. Does anyone know what FAA region this happened in?
  5. I own three straight tail 182's and am worried about the FAA's older airplane stance. While I don't think you can maintain a 182 forever, with proper maint they can go for quite a while. It all comes down to having an A&P/IA that won't accept the cheap fix and an operator that is willing to spend the money to keep things right. It is way cheaper to fix a problem with a new part than to fix it several times with worn out parts. If an operator can't afford to spend the money, he needs to find something else to do.
