  1. Have you got it checked out by a rigger? It's your first canopy?? Start praying.
  2. This is what the Australian Parachute Federation says about jumping through cloud: http://www.apf.asn.au/Members/Cloud-Jumping/About-Cloud-Jumping/default.aspx
  3. Couple people went out first, then us. They were lots of clouds in random places. I wouldn't of been able to predict we were going to go through the cloud. Thanks for the advice, I'm usually pretty good at dive exits but it was a bit hard for me with another person there.
  4. Just done 2 today. B-Rel 3 Fail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXhWNFg4WFU B-Rel 3 Pass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSE1Vnq_9pI
  5. Thanks! Yeah, I'm going to start practicing those exits so I get better at them.
  6. Did my first 2 B-Rels yesterday. I found out that float exits are hard. In stage 2 my goggles nearly fell off. Stage 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB0j2Brufhg Stage 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt6EvNwuzXk Mind the facial expressions. Enjoy!
  7. He said he's taking a "selfie" but he's filming?
  8. LAS VEGAS (AP) ‚ Authorities say a dispute about a recreational vehicle in a Las Vegas-area skydiving landing zone preceded an armed confrontation and police shooting that left a man dead during the weekend. Police Capt. Matt McCarthy tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/OvJC8K ) a skydiving company employee summoned police Sunday morning after a man in an RV wielded a rifle and refused to leave a drop zone near Jean Airport. McCarthy says the man barricaded himself in the RV and was shot dead after he pointed a rifle at SWAT officers. No one else was hurt. http://elkodaily.com/news/state-and-regional/skydiving-site-dispute-preceded-police-shooting/article_ef756a04-adee-11e3-ac8a-0019bb2963f4.html Does anyone have any other info on this.
  9. Short video of my AFF Stage 8, editing done with Cineform Studio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnSAnxcjHbU&feature=youtu.be
  10. Passed my AFF Course today and never had to repeat any stages
  11. My first solo landing/landing pattern was horrible. Second was perfect.
  12. It would be cool to do a sunrise load, because, as you said, a sunset jump can quickly turn into a night jump. So if you do a sunrise load, it would be safe and would just turn into a normal day.
  13. This was helpful, thank you. Oh yeah, to everyone else saying the height to wave off was a little low. It says in my AFF Book, wave offs are at 4000ft. My instructor changed the wave offs to 4,500ft.
  14. My Parachute's usually open by 3000ft, so I do my checks then some big fast turns.
  15. I like that it saves my life Although since I'm a Student I love usually being the last one in the sky. I like landing, that's pretty fun for me.
  16. Decision Altitude: 2000ft I didn't look at the parachute after kicking out the line twists, (big mistake) maybe the slider was still up. Parachute rig did seem kind of old. I think all the parachutes I used where the same kind. Next time I will do the two practice flares and then cutaway.
  17. Well today I was doing my AFF Stage 6 (My second solo landing). It was awesome by the way. But.......I deployed my Parachute, (wave offs were at 4000ft) kicked out some line twists I had, then did my practice flare. The Instructors tell you "if you have a low speed malfunction, 2 practice flares. If by then it's not fixed, check alti then cut away." 3000ft: 1st practice flare: Parachute did not slow down at all. 2nd practice flare: Slowed down a very tiny bit. Done a turn, parachute turned very slowly. Let's go for a 3rd practice flare: Ok, good, parachutes working pretty well now, not perfectly but good). 2400ft: Tested the rear risers, (Turns out I'm not confident landing with rear risers.) Maybe I should cutaway. Just another very quick flare, it's working ok. It wasn't that I was scared of cutting away, (Although I was a bit ) Believe me if I got down to around 2200ft and it wasn't working properly, I would've cutaway with no hesitation. But I'm interested what you think, should I of cutaway after those 2 first practice flares? I had a perfect landing by the way. -Aidan
  18. Just as the title says. Personally I would prefer a hackey.
  19. Is this anyone's main drop zone or has anyone been here? Just want to know.
  20. Great man, I'm still yet to go for my AFF How is it scary or hard?
  21. I read that you slightly push downward on upper arm. Is this true?
