So what number do we assign to the guy that goes six to eight months, or even a year or more without visiting the site, comes back and posts a ton for a few months and then goes back to not visiting at all for a while?

    13) The guy who's in and out of rehab all the time!

Yea, that would be me. Both of the above...

Man, I watched that thing take off and knew I was not getting on it.

The take offs were interesting, that's for sure. I landed in it once. That was enough.

There were two in GA. One was Fat Annie in different colors and the other crashed on TO killing all the crew. They lost an engine during the TO run, tried to abort the TO, but went off the end and into a building.

There is a GREAT but pricey book out just about Carvairs. Very detailed history of each plane.

I'll be! I think that's the guy that was there when I was giving the exit calls! He went on a few flights while dropping, took a crap load of pictures, and asked a huge amount of questions of the owner that was flying (though to this day I don't think he should have been flying it. No idea how he maintained his medical.)

I may have to look into that book.

Major life changing events. Major. Bad accident to bankruptcy to divorce to laid off, and more. Strange part? Right at this very moment I'm happier than I've been my entire life!

    JAMES:)Hola mi amigo, que passe:)

I'm good! Been away a little too long, but I see things haven't really changed much here.

Just trying to get ahead enough to be able to put enough money away to buy my rig back.

Question: Why are divorces so expensive?

    Answer: Because they're worth it!

:o:oyou sold the Blessed Cross Racer:o

It's in very, very good hands. And at the time it was the only option I had left. I had no electricity and a HUGE bill. Don't heat a house in Wisconsin all winter long with electric space heaters.

Attached is the most recent TSUNAMI WARNING SUPPLEMENT for Hawaii.

    Copied this part for here:
    Quote

A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST. TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.

Expect to be looking for about half the load to land off. The drop area for either of those planes is about 1/2 mile long. B|[:/]

    is that all? ;)

I load mastered the CARVAIR at the WFFC. 2 passes of 55-60 jumpers each. And as far as I know, the only ones that landed off were the individual jumpers in the last groups, that tracked hard, THE WRONG WAY.
Maybe they should have had you on hand for all the special plane loads. In '06 they were putting jumpers out on the other side of I-57 with the DC-9. I know cause I was one of 'em. :SB|

What Spence really needs is an AN-2. B|

It really sucked that I couldn't make it there in '06. I would have happily called the exit on the '9!

One particular Carvair jump I remember really well. 1 person landed off, but just barely. On the outside of the fence at the end of the runway. I know this really well, because that jumper was ME! 1st pass was fine. Circled around, second pass went off without a glitch. Walked up front to check in with the other LM (Captn Happy) that was relaying my messages to the cabin. Walked back to the door, and out I went. No wingsuit, so i just used the entire jump to track back towards the LZ. Damn near made it too!

The rules were you can't retire early. No cheating! ;)

I'm not cheating. I plan on retiring by age 50, sooner if i can. That's MY timeline, and that's what I'm working for. "Early" retirement is a government supplied arbitrary age/number.

  13. Ok, I guess I'm alone on the poll, for now at least. Here's my reasoning.

I've been there, doing the job I loved but just barely getting by. Though the job was great, constantly worrying about bills took away any enjoyment I got from working. It became a chore living day by day. 8 to 10 hours at work would have been fine, and enjoyable, except the worries and stress of the home life ended up carrying over at work, and made it a chore too, even though I loved it!

Now, I do know how to save, and can do it quite well so...

if the job I love just gets me by, and the job a hate makes me a LOT of money (as you stated), give me the money. You said I would be there until I retired. Well, since I'm making a whole lot more money, and will be saving the excess, I will also be retiring earlier. At this point, since I am retired and financially secure, I can do what I REALLY want to do, NOTHING!

    Quote

You are an analytical, focused and independent thinker with a deep interest in how the world works. You quickly grasp patterns and relationships and see the many sides of any complex issue. And when you focus on a particular business, social, personal or intellectual problem, you often come up with a novel solution. You are tough minded, skeptical and imaginative.

You want to make an impact on the world. And with your aptitude for theoretical thinking, your investigative rigor, your logic and your determination, you are likely to win the honors your hard work deserves.

Despite your need for independence and your resistance to any regulations or codes of conduct you find controlling, you make close friends. You like being with friends who provide stimulating conversation, as well as express their emotions and inner feelings. And you work to maintain these authentic connections.

You are a complex person, outwardly assertive, logical, skeptical and focused, yet you can feel and express genuine sympathy for others.

    Uh huh. ;)
    Quote

    Jim..., you are a Negotiator/director.

You have a broad overview of reality. You like to tackle large, complex issues and weigh all the variables involved. And you can be innovative and bold, generating new perspectives and providing imaginative solutions to ambiguous social, political, intellectual or technical problems.

You have fine tuned social skills, easily picking up the gestures, facial expressions and speech patterns of others and expressing yourself clearly and vividly. You are intuitive, too; you understand people, and genuinely sympathize with them. Because you are also flexible and cooperative, you are also good at working in teams.

Yet despite your poise in social situations, you often prefer solitude or informed and detailed conversations with just one individual or a few close friends. You try to avoid routine meetings and social engagements. You prize your independence.

You like to focus deeply and thoroughly on your interests. You can be exacting, tough-minded, analytical and strategic in your approach, too. You leave no stone unturned.

You are idealistic and romantic. You want to bond in a spiritual sense, communicate your innermost feelings and sustain an intense and meaningful relationship. You have a rich fantasy life. And, for you, sex must be mixed with romance and meaning. When you find true love, you focus your attention on your beloved. You give thoughtful gifts, are sensitive to your mate's feelings and communicate your emotions clearly. You are capable of unconditional love. You can be irreverent about traditional marriage, however. You feel your personal commitment is the true marriage vow. In fact, you may be inclined to write your own vows and create a non-traditional wedding ceremony. You unconsciously gravitate to those who are imaginative and playful with ideas. You also like those with an unruffled calm and decisiveness, those who are ambitious, and those who can focus on their goals-individuals who complement your restless soul-searching. You seek an authentic connection with just about everyone you meet, and you want to have in-depth discussions with friends and colleagues about ideas and feelings. You do not suffer fools gladly; "small talk" leaves you cold.
•Because you can see so many angles to an issue or decision, you can be indecisive.
•You wrestle with the contradictory feelings of being too eager to please and being tough minded. Don't worry too much.
•When you feel betrayed you can be unforgiving and hold a grudge too long.
You tend to naturally gravitate to the DIRECTOR/negotiators.

Let me bottom-line this for you:
Yes, you have a case. Yes, they should be taken to court if they don't pay up. If your wife is believed, I'd say you've got about a 90% chance of winning.

CAUTION: Did YOUR insurance company pay some of the bill (or front it all, and charge you the $500 deductible)? If so, be sure to carefully coordinate your efforts with theirs. Your policy almost certainly has a provision that you cannot do anything to compromise the insurance co's right to "subrogation" (the ins co's right to claim reimbursement from the uniform company). In other words, if you file suit only for your $500 deductible, that could extinguish the ins co's claim against the uniform co, in which case your ins co would make YOU pay for that. So if you file suit, do so for the WHOLE amount of the claim, so that both you AND your ins co get reimbursed. By the same token, make sure that your ins co pursues not just the above-deductible amount THEY paid, but the entire claim, so that you get reimbursed, too. Talk this specific issue over IN DETAIL with your insurance agent.

i called the idaho state patrol and their only requirement is the the windshield is cleared.

That just means they didn't violate a statute; it doesn't mean they weren't negligent. They were: it is anticipatable that ice on a truck will, if not cleared off, break off during travel and cause damage and/or injury to others. Therefore, failure to clear the top of a vehicle of ice before transit is negligence.

The above was cheerfully brought to you by an actual attorney. See the difference?

I'm sure states may have differing laws, and I have no idea if it could be covered under a federal law, but...

I drive semi's for a living, and we just got another handout stating that we can be fined for not properly clearing the ice/snow off our trailers before leaving the yard. Just HOW am I supposed to do that? it's 13'6" up there, and the roof are not designed to support the weight of a man walking on them. It's a psi thing. Snow and ice load is spread out, while my weight would be concentrated on a very small area.

Anyway, that's Wisconsin. If I can be fined for creating a hazardous condition, I'm sure I can be sued too.
