  1. my dz isn't super busy...but i might try and find a way to do that next time i jump. There are some other DZs the same distance (just the other direction) that are busier...maybe ask them as well on one of my days off? I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  2. Yep, between the labels and written out version of what I was looking for-totally helped-especially the 'rib' comment... I got to the point where it was contained in the tail (sloppily, lol) and started to fold and get it into bag then it started to fill with air again and man o man is it slippery!!! HA! It doesn't help that i've got the biggest canopy for that bag/container as well, so its snug. Gettin there...im just super hard on myself and want to get it right on the 2nd try...LOL! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  3. Find the stabilzer to start. It's the 'side' of the canopy, and there's usually some sort of label over there with the name of the canopy. If you're holding the canopy correctly to flake the cells, the stabilizer should be laying against your legs. So if you know you're starting at the 'beginning', you can follow the top edge of the canopy (which is now facing down because you have the canopy over your shoulder) and just follow that seam along until you get to the other stabilizer. Remember that a cell has two 'sections', and that you want to count the 'middle' section of the cell. So start at the stabilzer, with that being the outside of cell #1 and follow the leading edge until you come to a seam. The first seam you come to will be the center rib of cell #1, so count it. Now keep going, and the next seam you come to will be the wall between cell #1 and #2, and you don't count that. Keep going to the next seam, which will be the center rib of cell #2, so count that. Keep going, and you'll end up with 7. It does. Talk to your rigger (or any rigger) and they can provide you with a 'safe' marker to label the attachment points. Those are the little white square tabs that the lines actually attach to at the canopy, and they are just big enough for a mark. Again, it can be done, just ask a qualifed professional for help to make sure you don't harm the canopy or mis-label the lines (how confusing would that be?). Thanks, it helped! Still trying to find a way to mark the lines-at least during the learning curve..lol I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  4. Yep, im totally aware there are videos, but honestly im struggling counting the cells. {embarassed} Mine is a 7 cell (yes I can count to 7, lol), but sometimes I get to 7, some i dont. Is there a trick? Look for ____, or some stitching or something? Also, when I rotate the whole mess o' stuff 90 degrees to start flaking, some of the videos reference the lines. If I stop and think it through, I can get through it, but then I lose track of where I was...does it help to label them or something? Dont care how corny it is...just trying to really get this nailed down and practice practice before my next jumps! I'm sure the packers would appreciate it too..that new thing is SLICK! haha Thanks in advance... I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  5. thanks, that helped! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  6. Hey all, I did a search and couldn't find exactly what i was looking for, so i thought i'd start a new thread. Slowly starting to acquire gear, looking at jumpsuits at the moment and where i'm struggling is in an attempt to save cash I am looking on eBay. However some of their measurements dont seem to mesh with their listed height/weight, i realize we're all built different but holy moly... Can someone steer me in a good direction? TShirt size help at all? lol Also, for jumpsuits, do they measure waist around your belly button or around your hips? Thanks everyone! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  7. Will do! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  8. Heck yea, thats where I jump at...love it up there! Be there jumpin next Friday! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  9. I do it weekly-even when i'm not jumping that week. If im jumping...its on like donkey kong! But thanks for the tips, seems like some people forget that over time...(that was NOT meant to offend, just an observation-for the record) I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  10. I live in Vegas...which DZ? (more for curiosity sake) And i'm going to agree that its a scam...ive done a tandem at 1 DZ, AFF at another and had friends do tandems at the remaining 2 or 3 left...none said insurance. Was it the DZ? Insurance for the actual skydive? I've heard of TRAVEL insurance-meaning for the flight.... I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  11. Thank you! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  12. Thanks to all...honestly wouldn't have thought of some hangar time-great thought! Much appreciated! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  13. Thanks to those who responded to any topics, or to some of you who PMd me tips but also words of encouragement...i passed AFF yesterday! wootwoot! Now onto the A lisc...so, that being said...any tips for that? lol I do thank you all for the feedback and help along the way! -corrie I bust mine so I can kick yours.

  15. Thanks everyone, some i've heard-but some i hadn't! Trying again Sunday...as always its nice to see others felt this way/had this happening too! I'll give it a shot!!!! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  16. So im in AFF and when im on the ground I arch 'perfect' 4 out of 5 times...however once I get in the air and i get the 'arch' signal, i bend my knees...any other tricks to making myself do it better in the air? Ive begun practicing standing up and touching my 'belt to the door frame' but when i get in the air my knees bend.... thoughts/tricks? anything mentally i can picture on the way down? thanks! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  17. I know this isn't what you asked for, but maybe it will still help? http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/parachutes I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  18. I gotcha, all makes sense and all good points and thoughts. I appreciate the advice from everyone, so friendly....I love this community! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  19. Im really sorry in advance if this breaks 'code'...but when you see something like this, what do you all think, about the DZ? I understand the dangers/risks/etc (ive raced cars my whole life, i got that part)...but how do you look at the DZ after that? Does/should it change anything? Just curious... http://www.lvrj.com/news/two-skydivers-die-in-tragic-accident-in-mesquite-131432148.html I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  20. The other two that are close to me are 'sincity skydiving' and 'vegas extreme skydiving'. They are in Jean, NV which is basically an hour from the house...a touch closer than Mesquite. I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  21. So im trying to figure out how to choose a DZ... They are (literally) next door to eachother, and being in Vegas a lot of the reviews you find are for tandems so im not sure how/if they relate to AFF? I did a tandem with one of them and it was fun, but I wasnt in love with the staff...then when I called the OTHER dz the staff on the phone was great, nice, helpful and informative. The cost is several hundred dollars difference.... Any tips/tricks to doing some research on them? Any members near LV want to PM me and maybe give me some insight? Thoughts appreciated! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  22. thanks everyone! Ill start there! I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  23. Are there any good skydiving magazines out there? I found the thread for Skydiving Magazine being no more, im assuming it still is? Also, after a quick Google search, Blue Skies mag came up-does anyone read this one? thanks for the help! -The new guy I bust mine so I can kick yours.
  24. Novice is an understatement, but here's me: I've done 1 tandem and loved it-that was 2 years ago. I've always wanted to do more and stalled and stalled, then RedBull Stratos came up-reignited my fire and now im ready to do an AFF course! Stoked! I live in Vegas (if anyone on here lives here PM me and say Hi!) and work for a NASCAR school out here and love it. Can't wait to get my lisc and start jumping more often! In all seriousness- I WANT advice and tips!! What did you experience? How long before you think I should get my own gear (since I can rent from DZ for the day)? What was something YOU wish you had knew before your first class/solo jump/etc? Anxious!!!! Thanks in advance, since im sure I'll learn a lot here and hope to meet some people!!! --Corrie HI ALL!!!!
