  1. Has anyone tried the Canon Vixia HF20 or HF200 in the air yet? I just got an HF200 for snowboarding use, and since I don't jump much anymore, hadn't planned on taking it in the air. But now I'm curious. Between its OIS and the stabilization of my NLE software, it did a pretty good job on biking through not-very-flat sidewalks: http://blog.daviddouglasbooks.com/index.php/2009/09/helmetcam-video-first-test/ (yes I need a ring sight) Also curious if anyone's got a clever solution to monitor the "record" light (actually memory access light) on the backside of a camera. mirrored lightpipe or something? :-)
  2. I liked my Canon Elura 40mc (it had LANC). However the video was shakier than with a Sony. I always wrote that off as being due to my homemade mounting bracket, which I never got around to re-doing since I never got good enough with video (and didn't make $ from it). Now I have a Canon Vixia HF200 for non-skydiving uses. So far it was great biking, eventually I'll use it for snowboarding. Hope that's as good. 3. I'll never forget all the excitement that always followed Waldo. As some of you know I experienced it first hand as he rented a room from me for ~6 months (until the infamous fire). We had a lot of fun in that time, he was one of the most honest people I met - never afraid to speak his mind. And I've never seen anyone else so enthusiastic about the things he cared about: Guyana, Orange, the helicopter, his friends. This article (which Waldo asked me to scan in for him) sums up what he was about: always in the right place at the right time to help someone in need. Sorry the quality's bad but ya only get 100k. I'll email someone a couple of BASE pics from bridge day 2003... Tigger & Lowchop 2-way exit. Fly free wherever you are brother! -dave
  4. Hi all, was looking around locally to find what are some nice camcorders for skydive vid. The ones that came to the top: JVC GRDVP7U ($828) Canon Elura40MC ($663) Sony DVR-PC101 ($1000 or so) The 1st two, I can get a good deal on since I have a friend who works for a nationwide retail chain
