  1. Our two boys enjoyed a Sesame Street mobile above their crib, that had the characters on parachutes.
When they outgrew it, it found a new home at the DZ hanging in one of the packing areas.

My father is a deputy sherrif and a gunsmith. Your arsenal would comprise about a fourth of his gunroom. He has two large gun safes full of pistols, rifles, shotguns and an assortment of assault rifles (fully auto)...guess it pays to have a FFL. If you like ammo so much, you should try getting into reloading. From what my pops says, its like shooting ammo at 1/3rd the cost.

Nice, my father too was a Sheriffs Deputy (RIP)... Love ya Dad!
A gunsmith he wasn't, but I did inherit his safe and it's contents, add that to mine (not just three Saigas by far) and its not too shabby a collection.
Now if my FiL leaves me his collection and not to my worthless BiL, I may have a collection worth bragging about a little bit.

Whats up Dad :) Long time no talk good to see you.

Here is what is in my office (not inlcuding what is in the shop office, or in my desk or truck or home or my wifes purse or on my side;))

We just added a re-loading station down in our shop. As shooting the .50 and 7.62x51 are expensive. Not to mention the 220 Swift :o Holy shit is that round $$$$$ I bought a sweet 220 swift varmint rifle from my Police office friend because it is just wicked accurate but had no idea that the only economical way to shoot it was to re-load. Damn things are half the price of a .50

    Do I qualify?

My son, illegitimate, ungrateful bastard that you are, I'll overlook all your shortcomings simply because you've a Saiga12 in your pic :D

Dude, I was thinking of you just the other day.
I was day dreaming about some of my favorite jumps, and was thinking about that wicked little dog fight we had, almost canopy to canopy spiraling down, burnt some altitude mighty fucking fast.

Don't know about the 220 swift, but I do know what ya mean with the .308/x51nato, and when I run through 500rds of 5.56 in one day of games with some friends... It ain't exactly cheap either.
Going to add a Saiga 5.45x39 to my Saiga family (see pic below), it is currently THE cheap milsurp.

    Saigas... 12g .308 7.62x39

  6. Seriously though, that little pile is only good for a few months of regular range time spent, plinking for fun, serious target shooting, tac training and hunting.
If I attend any courses or comps, it gets ate up twice as fast.

I really need to invest in reloading equipment. :$

I have had suspicious thoughts that DHS has access to this and other Dropzone.com forums. I wonder if we should openly discuss such matters.

I'm well known to the ATF/DHS.
I've numerous interactions with the Alphabet boys-n-girls, and I've a Class 3 Curios & Relics FFL.

Another question I'll bet you know the answer to.

Why can't a 5.56 round be chambered in a .223 rifle while the reverse is not a problem?

    556 can used in a 223 chamber, but it isn't advised ;)
    In a nutshell...
The chamber leade is shorter in the 223 chamber and longer in the 556 chamber.
The 556 is a higher velocity & chamber pressure load.
Firing the 556 in a 223 chamber will result in higher chamber pressures, this higher pressure could result in primer pocket gas leaks, blown cartridge case heads and gun functioning issues.
Firing the 223 in a 556 chamber with it's longer leade, can result in loss of velocity and accuracy... Though these losses would only be noticed by those with a Chrony and used to shooting ragged one hole groups.

    LOL...

I was shooting trap with a bunch of guys several years back. We were having a hard time finding steady supplies of ammo. Went out and ordered 15 cases of low brass #7. UPS guy delivered it to the house, and didn't say anything.

    LOL...

I thought I was bad for ordering four cases at a time of 5.56 & 762x39.
Buster Brown was grunting even with his dolly, wife convinced him to stack it inside our foyer... Cause it was way too heavy for her to move. :D

  9. How Much Ammo Must One Have to Qualify As An Arsenal?

    Or

How Much Ammo to Make a Liberal Croak?

I always laugh when I hear of some schmuck getting his home raided/searched for whatever reason(s).
And the LEos and/or Liberal Media have a conniption fit and call his motley collection of a few rifles, shotguns and handguns, with a mere 2-3K of asst'd calibers in ammo an Arsenal, Armory or Arms Cache.
And I love how every semi-auto is an Automatic Weapon.
If my house was ever subject to such, they'd have a grand mal over just my firearms alone.

    But I digress...

So, how much ammo is too much, or how much more do I need to acquire, to make the Liberals have heart attacks? :P

    Is this a good start?
Just a few thousand rounds of each caliber that I own. ;)

  10. I've jumped it ;)

Don't worry, your not missing anything, it was just another boring ride to altitude, and the exit was ho-hum, totally not worth the hefty jump ticket price.

And like Joe Isuzu... I'm lying :)

  11. Not home at your rental abode, thats OK Census Workers enter anyways.

    The Barr Code
Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence

6:00 am May 26, 2010, by Bob Barr

Thousands of census workers, including many temporary employees, are fanning out across America to gather information on the citizenry. This is a process that takes place not only every decade in order to complete the constitutionally-mandated census; but also as part of the continuing “American Community Survey” conducted by the Census Bureau on a regular basis year in and year out.

What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.” If the landlord of such apartment or other leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00.

That’s right — not only can citizens be fined if they fail to answer the increasingly intrusive questions asked of them by the federal government under the guise of simply counting the number of people in the country; but a landlord must give them access to your apartment whether you’re there or not, in order to gather whatever “statistics” the law permits.

In fact, some census workers apparently are going even further and demanding — and receiving — private cell phone numbers from landlords in order to call tenants and obtain information from them. Isn’t it great to live in a “free” country?

Census workers can't enter your home without permission

Readers of former U.S. Rep Bob Barr's (R-Ga.) blog "The Barr Code" at ajc.com might be forgiven for believing they can. After all, the headline on his May 26 entry flatly states, "Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence." But it just so happens that this flat statement is flat-out wrong.

Barr's blog goes on to state that census workers can demand access to individual living quarters to count residents and collect statistics, and that any owner, landlord or agent who refuses to grant that access can be fined $500. Citizens, he adds, can also be fined for failing to answer the "increasingly intrusive" questions on the census.

The only true statement in the above summary of what Barr wrote is that the fine for failing to cooperate with the decennial census count is $500. The rest of the summary, and the blog entry itself, is either twisted out of shape or grossly exaggerated.

The section of the Federal law governing the census does state that landlords and owners must give census workers access to apartment buildings, hotels, rooming houses, and similar facilities (including gated communities by inference), or provide the names of residents inside them, upon request, with a $500 fine for any owner who refuses to do either. The law does not permit, nor does the Census Bureau instruct, census workers to enter apartments or other dwellings in the absence of the inhabitants. In fact, census takers are trained not to enter residences even when the residents invite them in. The fine -- $25 at the time of the first census in 1790, $500 now -- is almost never levied against anyone.

I did not want to believe this article... Thankfully, its been thoroughly debunked.

    Shame on Barr/Fox.

  12. Shorts & tshirt?
No other way to go than IWB.

A good belt, don't be cheap, drop the $80-$100+.

Crossbreed's SuperTuck in horsehide gets my vote.
Very comfortable, wide degree of cant adjustability, the horsehide handles sweat very well.

Tshirt a size too large, with good length and made of heavier material helps prevent printing and accidental exposure when bending over or the shirt riding up.
    ............................
    Alternative.

If your carrying a very small subcompact, you can get OWB holsters that will pass for a big multi-tool pouch/blackberry case.
    Velcro/magnetic flap conceals grip nicely.

except the ak-47 which shoots a .223, is definitely not light assault

and the "m-16" they showed is a m-4. also the m-16 is not full auto.;)

AK-47 is typically chambered in 7.62x39, not .223/5.56.
And the M16 has had more than a few variants, some of which were indeed FA.

But who the fuck really cares about such insignificant & petty weapons when a Ma'deuce is available? :)

  14. Damned lucky... Job + Raise B|

I'm feeling blessed, $300. Christmas Bonus, $1000. Safety Bonus and a 3% Raise on my salary.
That was with our Branch Office/Warehouse taking close to a -20% hit under the previous year's bottom line.

Corporate said, "It was promised to you, your getting it."

However, we cut three positions and everyone is now working their collective ass off :|

  16. Back in '05... Or was it '04,
while hanging out at the DZO's, on airport crashpad, a buddy of his drops in in a rented c182, with two hotties aboard. He'd told'em he could show'em a skydiver and even toss him outta'da plane.
Well, the unnamed DZO was at his day job, so I proceeded to wow the hotties with a exhibition of aerial daredevilry, spiced with a bit of banditry. :)
No calls given, backwoods, semi deserted airfield, lets do this!
Crammed backwards into the front seat, told the pilot to give me 3K'AGL, and slip it hard, so as I could get the damned door open. Manage to get the door open, manage to get my ass out without dislodging any handles/pins or body parts.
Door slams on my foot, looped off the wheel strut, got stable and opened at 1500'.
Hotties loved it & the day just got better and better.
