HURRICANE is the new freefly helmet from Sky Systems Ltd. (the makers of Factory Diver, Sidewinder and OXYGN skydiving helmets). This carbon fiber, Kevlar reinforced helmet is by far the most comfortable freefly helmet available on the market.

Sky Systems has taken your thoughts and designed a new freefly helmet to meet your needs. The HURRICANE introduces a new shape for a more comfortable fit, and has external audible ports over each ear for a more clear sound transmission. Utilizing similar technology as the Nvertigo, the HURRICANE features the Sky Dial tightening mechanism to tighten the forehead and neck areas.

Lightweight, comfortable and nice fit once it's on my head.
A little difficult getting over my ears without ears folding over ... but no biggie.

I'll have to second the reviews about needing a small head. It only comes in 2 sizes and I bought the S/M. I was concerned it would be a little too big because on Sky Systems sizing chart a Sm is 21.5" - 22" and a Med is 22.1" - 22.5". My head measurement above eyebrow is 21.5". I used the tightening feature ... didn't really need to but played around with it a bit and it helped the fit just a tad. It fits me like a glove! :-)

Confort, Light weight, Low profile, Dual audible ports, Nice looking
Outside audible ports, Need more than 2 shell sizes, Runs smaller thans other helmets

I used to have a Rawa Imagem, but i sold it because im not a big fan of chincups and i dont want to use a camera.
So i bought a Hurricane, a low profile helmet for freefly.
Its a preety good helmet, A+ confort, light weight and a nice low profile.
The audible ports being on the outside made me a little unconfortable, but you can hear them just fine and it is very secure.
Im a Medium size, but i bought a Large and it fits tight, so if you wanna buy one try first or buy one size larger.
I think the SkyDial is just a fancy thing, its has a nice fit even with out using it, so if it brokes, im not worried.
I recommend this helmet if you want this kind of helmet.
Later!

Speed of Delivery, Easy access to dytter.
Rachet system is poor, tight intial fit

I have been impressed with the helmet. I like the audible placement and the fit is snug. Initially the fit was a little too tight, I have a somewhat large head. Also the audible is very easy to hear in freefall contrary to some reviews. Overall good helmet.

Looks Good
Need small head

Ordered a Hurricane from Parachutes Australia in L/XL, but way too small for my head. Worth trying this one on for size before purchase. Anyway PA were great and exchanged it for the N-Vertigo. This helmet is much better fit for big heads.

Comfortable and a good fit
Mediocre customer service

I have had my Hurricane for about 18 months and by and large it works well.

The first one I had had a poor finish on it so they took it back and sent me a new one. Unfortunately, they were so far behind in orders that it took about 8 weeks to get the original helmet and then when I sent it back, severalmore weeks to get the replacement.

I am not a fan of external audible altimer ports, so i cut out a piece of the inside liner and my altimer fits very nicely.

Would I buy another one - Yes, if I was prepared to wait. If I wanted a custom helmet, the wait might be more than I could handle.

Great fit, tightening system
getting to the ear port to install the dytter

I have had my Hurricane for about a year now and love it. My interaction with the skysystems staff was professional and helpful. The staff answered all of my questions and gave me great advise. They shipped my helmet a few weeks after purchase.

The tightening system works well and gives you a snug fit. So well in fact, that I don't have to have my chin strap sucked up into my throat. It is just tight enough to prevent it from being knocked off in a collision. The tightening system seems to keep it snug enough to prevent any movement in freefall. Once this thing gets broken in, it is very comfortable.

As for cons, I would like to see it available in four sizes rather than two. Also, getting to the ear ports to install a dytter is quite a task. If these changes were made, it would be a five star helmet.

I write on behalf of 7 of us who ordered helmets from Skysystems end of FEB this year. We were at first promised a two week turnaround. After three weeks we phoned and were told NINE weeks wait. After nine weeks, were told SIXTEEN weeks. We then received TWO of the helmets and no explanation of what happened to the rest. At sixteen weeks, we phoned to hear progress: "The liners are being installed" after TWO MORE WEEKS, we phoned again for update: "The liners are being installed"

Not once did Skysystems have the decency to apologise, or let us know what is happening. They are misleading customers.

Also - they sent us a rediculously small helmet and said it was a medium - not a single skydiver, even girls, could fit the lid which was supposed to fit a 22.5inch head. When we wanted to send it back, they said they don't take returns.

After long debate, they agreed to send us a replacement - we can have it in 16 weeks.
