discovery4 0 #1 July 16, 2010 Please leave personal opinions toward the Red Bull Air Force off of this thread! Is being on the Red Bull Air Force, and other factory teams such as the PD Factory team, a full time job for these guys or is it something they do on the side of having a "real" job? mccordia 74 #2 July 16, 2010 Depending on the promotion/venue/product/film/project/stunt a jumper can be anything from part time to single jump to full career/dayjob connected to said company or sponsor. For one its the life of an athlete, for another its parties, demos en funjumps. In almost all cases its acomplished sportsman, who earned their place in the sport through their skills, acomplishments and/or exposure. You do see the people depending on income from their sponsor sometimes do stunts or promotional activities they wouldnt always choose if their salary/payment didnt depend on it. Its living the dream to those outside, but hard work (getting there, and staying there) for those select few..JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
mccordia 74 #3 July 16, 2010 A minor addition on getting sponsors: You get sponsored based on either experience, skill, achievements, personality, media, records and/or exposure. There isnt a single sponsor who pays new jumpers to 'become cool, and do cool stuff'. Like anything in life, it takes hard work to get there... I see many unexperienced jumpers hoping RB, GoFast or a gear manufacturer will step up and pay their jumps, travel, drinks and lifestyle...but packing, a dayjob and jumping like mad from that hard-earned cash is where it all starts...nothing in life is free JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
