chrisgray 0 #26 March 4, 2008 If LANC port is important (which it is to me) these are my recomendations. SD Cameras: PC350 (older model) PC1000 (older model) HD Camera: HDR-HC9 (current model) Unfortunately Sony is not putting LANC port on many models at all now. :(WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray
dragon2 2 #27 March 4, 2008 Only buy the HC9 if you do not plan on freeflying with it I'd stick with the HC5 which is still a current model. ciel bleu, Saskia
chrisgray 0 #28 March 4, 2008 You have tickled my curiosity. What is the issue with freeflying with the HC9. FYI: The HDR-HC5 is no longer current from Sony. It is not in the 2008 product mix nor is it orderable from sonystyle. Although, that model will be purchasable from dealers that still have them in stock while supplies last.WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray
dragon2 2 #29 March 4, 2008 Same issue as the HC7. ciel bleu, Saskia
chrisgray 0 #30 March 4, 2008 I was not aware of this problem that affects the HC7 and HC9. It appears from other threads that vibrations from heavy wind buffeting and burble can cause problems with the Optical Image Stabilization. Can this feature not be turned off? I will check the online owners manual once I have time.WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray
dragon2 2 #31 March 4, 2008 That's the whole problem, you can turn off the stabilisation of the lower end models since it's electronical but not those of (some of) the higher end models since it's optical. ciel bleu, Saskia
chrisgray 0 #32 March 5, 2008 Thats a shame that they haven't designed it that way. It certainly can be designed to turn off since even the OIS is controlled by electronic sensors and servos to move the optics.WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray
dragon2 2 #33 March 5, 2008 Of course you can turn it off in the menu, it just doesn't help much since the optics can still "bounce around". ciel bleu, Saskia
