Velocity Top Mount - any experience?

Recommended Posts

Spent last month making my decision on camera and after all research (90% on this forum) just completed the deal on e-bay for TRV19.

Well, now it's time to get ready to mount the toy. I jump regular Velocity helmet and they have Velocity Top Mount platform which I'm thinking to buy. Anybody used this equipment? Pros/Cons? Any other suggestions on Top Mounting it? (other manufacturers, other kinds of platforms?)

Thanks in advance!

I have about 250 jumps with a velocity. I made a plate on the top for stills and I hand made a fiberglass box to side mount a PC 100. A TRV is sort of long if I am not mistake, so making a top is mount is possible but you need to pay close attention to keeping it as snag free as possible. here are some pics of my setup, maybe they can give you some ideas. Also a cut away system is highly, highly recommended, mine is hard to see in the pic. It is realy just a pin that holds the chin straps to the helmet that has a 1" wide piece of webbing attached to it and velcroed to the helmet. good luck

You might want to look at a second helmet. It's nice to have a non-camera helmet sometimes.

I'm not a big fan of the "bolt on" mounts, just because there are cleaner integrated designs avaliable. Looks like it works fine though.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
