The Dave Gold Parachute Collection

Recommended Posts

Was anybody else aware of this collection? I seem to remember the name from somewhere but don't know where I might have heard it. There's a bio page about Dave at the site. Sometime I'll have to make a road trip and look at the archive and the museum. The description of the paper collection is pretty amazing. Might rival Howard's. Or not?

"The collection spans the period 1917 to 1985 and is contained in 151 Hollinger boxes and 34 Record Center boxes filling approximately 103.125 linear feet. The collection is arranged into nine series."

Yes. Dave Gold was an engineer that worked on military and NASA parachute related projects.
Most of his publications were J. of Aircraft, AIAA J or governmant docs.
I'd have to go browse my files to see where he worked because I can't remember.

His documents were donated to the Parachute Musuem at Wright-Patterson AFB.

The web site doesn't make it sound like it's the Wright Pat. museum but another Dayton museum in the Aviation Trail organization. Maybe I misinterpreted.

The paper archive is at the university there in their special collections archive.
