Skydive Opelika Night Jumps Part DEUX!

Recommended Posts

Skydive Opelika is going to have their Night Jumps part Deux!

When October 13th 2007 (And no Auburn is not playing at home that weekend)

Our last night jumps (June 30th 2007) was our Blue’s Blue Moon jump and went off without a hitch!
We gave out Blue’s Blue Moon Numbers but unfortunately we cannot do that again for awhile (The damn Moon won’t behave). Instead of B’s BM numbers we are going to give out the coveted Alabama Gang Member numbers. There are allot of folks out there who are Alabama Gang members but no one has a number. This is your chance to get a sub-100 number in a prestigious line of jumpers. Buddy Blue (D-597) has trained and jumped with some of the finest jumpers out there and we are counting on you to come and help celebrate as we award Buddy Blue Alabama Gang Member Number #1 (He doesn’t know about this so SHHHHH…..)

We will have the hanger and FBO open for showers and sleeping. We have plenty of room for RVs and tents but sorry no hookups.
Dinner and a laminated membership card will be provided for a 10.00 registration fee. We will also place the names on a website specifically for the Alabama Gang Numbers.

2 Cessna 182s will be the jump planes for the day and night jumps. Strobes will be provided and B-license is required. Those needing night jumps will be given first priority.

During and after the jumps we will be showing videos on the side of the hanger including some classic skydiving movies like Fandango….And I heard a rumor the Jaeger machine might make an appearance…

So come on out and join us @ Historic Moton Airfield in Tuskegee, Al (Home of the Tuskegee Airmen)

I need a rough estimate of those who want to attend so I know how much to cook…

If you cannot attend let me know and if one of our group can validate you we will put you in for a number drawing!

P.S (I like parenthesis) and ellipses….

P.S.S
We know that Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Red Farmer, Davey Allison, Neil Bonnett, David Bonnett, and Hut Stricklin, who married Donnie's daughter, became the last member of the Alabama Gang.) Dale Earnhardt Sr. was great friends with members of this group, and while not an Alabama resident, he became associated with the Alabama Gang They were the car racing Alabama Gang but We are Skydiving’s (Links to Wikipedia and some text was altered during pasting full text here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alabama_Gang)

The Alabama Gang!

Come and listen to a story about a man named Blue,
Former Special Forces that served his country true,
Happens one day he was looking at the sky,
Next thing you know a Cessna he would buy!

Well before you know it ol’ Buddy’s a DZO,
Jumpers said, Blue, move away from home!
Said Macon County is the place you ought to be.
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Tuskegee.
U-Haul, that is.
BIG Orange truck,
no brakes.

Wasn’t too long, people are a jumping left and right,
One day soon some will be on the Golden Knights!
At the end of the day Buddy holds up a beer…
And All the Gang Yells
“IF YOU DIE WE SPLIT YOUR GEAR!”
All of it that is,
Canopies, Rigs, Lift Tickets.

The Alabama Gang!
