i don't know if they'd let a civilian do it but certain spec ops units do them. they use them when they have to jump someone in the doesn't know how to fly but is still mission essential, sometimes they use them to jump large bundles in when there is too much gear for each individual jumper to fly in

there was a thread around sometime ago and apparently 12k ft is already high for military...

and yes, there have already been 30k ft tandems, but that is not regular operation as far as I know

Nightjumps did one at the WFFC with his dog.

I'm sure some one who has pictures will see this and post some. It was very cool.

one thing about the army is they over safety everything. at that altitude if the jumpers are in the bird for more than 30 minutes O2 is required, i think any higher than 17k and its required immedeatly, i can't remember what the FAA regs are for civilians but military is usually a little more strict when it comes to stuff like that
