Nasemann 0 #1 March 5, 2007 so I've moved to a new country, got a job and struggle to cope with the work load. there is no dz here, my rig will come in may and I am just trying to figure out, how to survive the next 2 1/2 months without skydiving. what really concerns me is that my last jump was in december and I just have the train of thought, that everything I've learnt in the past [e.g. from the canopy or freefly seminar] will just vanish slow but steadily anyone else experienced a similar situation? any hints? councilman24 36 #2 March 5, 2007 With 400 jumps you won't forget it. But, take it slow. Do a high solo to remind you about freefall, altitude awareness, gear, spotting, etc. Do some practice pulls touching your handles. Open a little high. Remind yourself where your canopy stalls and how it flares. Do a simple pattern and landing. Add complexity, RW, VRW, higher performance landings, etc. as you feel comfortable. Should only take a jump or two to be back up to speed. Here in the Northern U.S. we routinely have 5-6 month layoffs. No biggie. Longest I've went is about 11 months. No learning curve to start back up.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
monkycndo 0 #3 March 5, 2007 I have a layoff due to injury. I am thinking of the same things, with the added worries of if the leg will be ready. Going to do simple jump with a borrowed larger canopy for a nice soft landing. Man am I looking forward to that first breath of air in freefall at 15K.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
