ashling 0 #1 August 31, 2005 I'm diabetic since 1992, using a pump for 2 years and counting (www.insulin-pumpers.org helped me get my life back), soon to be a one-jump-skydiver. Where do you wear the pump when you're jumping? Does it ever get in the way of the straps? Do you change your basal rate before the jump? Do your sugars tend to rise or fall during the jump? If you jump without your pump do you go high? Just curious
mdrejhon 8 #2 September 1, 2005 Try searching 'diabetic' in the Search textbox at the upper-right corner of this web document. This link was interesting reading: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1648919 Not diabetic here, but I happened to notice this when it was posted in June. Hans 0 #3 September 2, 2005 My wife is diabetic and uses a pump. She removes it before every jump because of the fluctuation of her sugar when she jumps. If you would like to talk to her call Skydive The Farm anytime ask for Sandy. The Farm
bigsapper 0 #4 September 5, 2005 I'm a pumper. I'm still a student so I wear mine on my belt under the jumpsuit. When I'm practicing my dirt dives I wear mine on my side. I move it around to my front before I rig up so the straps don't ride over it. So far it's worked well. I also make sure my BG is over 120 before I jump. bigsapper 0 #5 September 19, 2005 Arrrr, avast ye maties! (talk like a pirate day) I broke the belt clip on my last jump this weekend. I don't know if it broke when I pulled or when I landed. I'm considering removing it when I jump now.
