AdD 1 #1 September 28, 2004 Free Falling is the sport invented by free soloist mountain climber Dan Osman. Dan used systems of ropes to make himself into a human pendulum, doing jumps up to 1,000 feet and stopping just feet above the ground. There is very little said about him on the web, and I could not find any video of his jumps. Unfortunately he died as a result of equipment failure. If anyone knows where to find video of his jumps I'd really like to see it.Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream
CanuckInUSA 0 #2 September 28, 2004 I have a VHS climbing video with Dan Osman on it at home. At can't remember what the video is called (Freedom over Stone ... maybe), but if I can remember to check it out tonight, I could tell which one he's in. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
OnYourBack 0 #3 September 28, 2004 I have seen him on tv before but it was years ago. The book written about him is pretty good. I think it was called "Fall of Phantom Lord"
BANANAFINGER 0 #4 September 28, 2004 Masters of stone is what your looking for, in particular volume V. He featured in most of them in some way or another but volume V had a tribute to him following his death including setting up some of his biggest jumps, his earlier jumps and an outrageous solo speed ascent in Yosemite (watch him dyno for a hold and miss it first time.....). By the way theres also some base included up on Baffin Island, if memory serves me right. Experience is a series of non-fatal errors.
