skydemon2 0 #1 June 29, 2006 What make a CD player after 3-5yrs start to not play cds the cds spin and try to play but it just makes spinning noise and then after 10-20 seconds it stops trying? This is the 2nd one Could it be fixed? bad belt? bad motor? I have cleaned the eye doesnt seem to help. Any help would be great !! Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone! psipike02 0 #2 June 29, 2006 Well sometimes it could be 1 of 2 things in my opinion: Sometimes when that happens, the CD could also be bad and unreadable. In that case you can buy cleaner that will get rid of scratches and marks on the CD that cause the laser to not read the markings. My second thought would be that oftentimes dust and other particles can get on the eye and the inner workings of the cd player. Depending on how you cleaned it (hopefully not by hand) could affect the overall performance of the eye itself as well. Do you have one of those cleaning CD's that has brushes on the bottom side of it? These work very well and keep everything clean. My guess could be even though you cleaned the eye, its still could be damaged, or the CD might be bad as well. Or you could just have a shitty CD player....thats possible as well... I searched the web and will reclean the lens and lube the moving parts and see what happens but has anyone had this problem and did something specific to fix it? Ive had 2 stereos do this and my friends did it too so I know it must be a common problem!!Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone! skydemon2 0 #4 June 29, 2006 I have cleaned the eye with the cd type cleaner and I have opened it and blown/cleaned all the dust out and cleaned the eye with a cleaning kit made for cd lasers.Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone!
