Malware Help!

Recommended Posts

Despite all firewalls, cookie settings, etc. I have managed to pick up what I believe is the Netstat re-director. I keep getting these pop ups, and occasionally another explorer window opens up to various sites. I cannot find anything that specifically addresses this f*&king thing, anyone had any experience with removing this SOB? Thanks!

Check your registry. I've seen viruses and *ware that plant themselves in there, and are a bugger to clean out. Then run registry, virus, adware, and trojan scans. I'm no expert, but it works for me. I also run FireFox or Opera rather than IE which seems to help a bit. Good luck!

I've had good luck with AdAware SE (freeware from Lavasoft), http://sue.sentientdesign.co.uk/personal.php. If that doesn't do it, you will want to be thorough about it, and follow the steps here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

And then, as someone else suggested, run Firefox, Flock or Opera (which are not 100% malware proof either, by the way).

Hope this helps.

Yep, thanks all, I have already run Adaware and Microsoft Defender, they both report all is peachy. I have also been on the Majorgeeks forum, and all they have there is for the toolbar version of this bastard. About ready to just flatten and rebuild this thing!>:(
