If you ever post Videos on the Internet YOU NEED THIS!

Recommended Posts

OK, so I recently went to post some videos on the internet and I was very displeased with the quality. I think I tried at least 20 different sites before I came across exactly what I had been looking for... A free high-quality video hosting site. You can finally have your cake and eat it too! This honestly is leaps and bounds better quality than any of the other free hosting companies. I challenge you to prove me wrong.

It does take a few more steps to get your video posted, but honestly, once you've done it once or twice you'll find that it's much quicker than uploading large files to a site that's going to re-encode your skillfully shot video till it looks like a complete pile of fucking shit.

It works like this:
1. You edit your video as you usually would (using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc, etc)
2. You resize and encode your video into Flash 8 format (using an encoding program like On2 Technologies Flix Pro, or the program that is provided by Brightcove)
3. You upload the file to Brightcove Studio online.
4. You create a title and choose other options like having thumbnail images and such.
5. Optionally, if you have multiple videos, you can create a playlist of multiple videos that will play consecutively (or as chosen by the viewer) in your player.
6. You choose a player.
7. You embed or link the video wherever you'd like to on the internet (including web pages, MySpace, etc.)

That's it. It's really pretty simple. The video is hosted by Brightcove for free!

Here's a few examples of the quality you can expect:

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1184506592&channel=2621245

It's important to note that some of the videos shown on Brightcove aren't as high of quality as others... This is due to employing poor encoding techniques... It's very important to follow the guidelines recommended by Brightcove to get the best results. I was able to achieve very high quality on my first attempt. I will never again post a video on YouTube, MySpace, or any other crappy site. THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF ONLINE VIDEO POSTING!

Are you sure you signed up for a "Studio" account? I just uploaded a video (http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1402023290) last night and I don't have a platform account. I was able to post the video on MySpace and it's still active. I doubt they changed their policy overnight.

Edit: The camera I used was a crappy point and shoot digital still camera and I was pretty wasted, so the quality isn't all that good...:)

I just uploaded another video and haven't been asked to pay a dime... Maybe you were trying to register for the wrong service? Or maybe I just snuck in before they stopped allowing people to register? Has anyone else tried to register and had problems?
