wmw999 2,175 #1 July 18, 2014 OK, a year or two ago I created a bootable thumb drive with malwarebytes on it; it was a piece of cake (I'm only formerly tech-savvy, and I'm quite instruction-impaired). But now I can't find the instructions, and I need a new thumb drive; the old one is too old, and I have a W7 PC that needs some help. I'm hoping it's that. The Malwarebytes web page doesn't have any (or I haven't found them -- did I mention I was instruction-impaired?). I haven't found ones that are as good in looking around. So now I'm asking my local tech support crew Anyone got a good pointer? Thanks Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
theonlyski 3 #2 July 18, 2014 I've just gotten to the point that I keep all of my data on a server that I built (and pretty much any old PC could do it with a couple of hard drives) so that if/when a computer gets hosed, I just reload the whole OS. Saves me time and frustration in the end and I know that I've got a fresh install, not some lingering effects that take way too much time and energy to fix. ETA: this is probably what you wanted http://www.thecomputermanual.com/malwarebytes-usb-boot/ I'd be careful to follow the instructions on that though, using diskpart in admin mode on windows gives you the possibility of really hosing up a functioning computer. You've been warned.
