Jumping at Skydive Alabama was an entirely positive experience for me. The staff were all very friendly and fun, and the AFF training I received from Jason was top notch! (although I love everyone else there too!) I am confident I wouldn't have had a better experience anywhere else! The king air is nice because it gets you up to altitude very quickly. The packing area is large and can accommodate several canopies simultaneously. The landing area is larger than it looks at first, with a separate area for swoopers. The vibe at Skydive Alabama is amazing! We were grounded for a while due to bad weather, but had a lot of fun during that time! They have everything you could possibly need for rental and sale. Lots of fun times after sunset too! It sucks that they are in a dry county and you have to travel to buy beer, but other than that I have no complaints whatsoever! I look forward to returning to Skydive Alabama in the future! Easily one of my favorite DZ's!

A couple of weeks ago I went in for my first skydiving experience ever. Needless to say I was a little anxious. That quickly dissipated once I met the staff and the other jumpers there. They make you feel comfortable and feel like you fit right in. I went with 2 other guys. I jumped on the first load of the day, my budz went on the second load. After my jump, the instructors and other jumpers would approach me just to have conversation and hang out.

Since my visit, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I can't wait to get back there and start my AFF training.

Oh... and these guys are a bunch of idiots!!!... I love 'em!!! :)

Definately, check out Skydive Alabama if you ever get the chance!!!

I would like to thank the Staff for a wonderful First Jump. Rusty and Jason did a great job coaching me. I am very interested in getting into the sport because of them. We will be back.

I've made over 150 jumps at this location and everytime I come out no matter if it's the same crowd or not everyone makes me feel at home. These guys and women have trully changed my life. the staff is extremly knowledgeable in every aspect of the sport and never hesitate to give you help anytime you ask for it, or like me ( just looking confused most of the time.) going throu my aff everyone was tremendously helpful in figuring out what i was doing wrong and right and have made me progess through this sport. skydive alabam will allways be my home away from home.

Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the King Air goes up and down very quickly so you're always getting at least 13,000 ft (and more), they are SUPER safety conscious, have lots of room for many people to pack their chutes, great prices, fun evening/night atmosphere after all the jumping has finished. If you're ever in AL and want to jump, THIS is the place to do it.

I looked at other DZs before selecting Skydive Alabama. Nobody had anything bad to say about them and there is a reason. They are good people who love the sport and want to help others in the sport. The coaching has always been top notch. There is no doubt they know their stuff and can communicate it well to others. The jumpers there are friendly and helpful as well. I am very happy with my choice of places to train.

Skydive Alabama is a great dropzone! It feels smaller than it is -- they have a fast King Air, a C-182, plenty of facilities, the Airport and surrounding community likes the operation...it's a "smalltown" feeling. Not that Cullman is a metropolis mind you. It's just that it is fairly easy to get comfortable and acquainted with everything but they have some of the same things that "larger" DZs have. The landing areas are large -- plenty of space for high-performance and regular landings.
Boy do they like to fly their King Air...and fly it high they do!! My last trip there, I had to re-check my altimeter because it felt like we'd been flying for a while in freefall...well lifts to 13.5+ aren't out of the norm at all. You'll notice it! ;-)

Now, I don't drink, but when I owe beer, I pay beer. If you expect to owe beer for anything while traveling there, you should consider bringing it from home, several of the counties surrounding this area are dry.

Everything else is just plain neat. At the end of the day of jumping, the vibe is nice, there's no attitude.

Head on down there and enjoy!

I went to Skydive Alabama to do the AFF course. From the start they were helpful, friendly, upbeat, and just plain good people. Going from nothing to a clas A liscence in about 4 weeks i was there every weekend and i can tell you that this is the norm. Always plenty of coaches around for the new guys like me. The King air and teh 182 are both great aircraft. They jump 'till they cant jump no more....and then the fun begins. I'd heard of other places to jump but figured there was no reason to go anywhere alse. I could not have asked for a better experience. Now im in Korea and there are no DZ's. Thanks to Curly and his team for the welcoming atmosphere and good times. I'm not an experienced jumper but I would definately recomend this DZ to anyone.

I had my first tandem there in 2004. Do to the overwhelming sense of support and belonging I went back did AFF, got my A and B license there. I have sense moved away. There are numerous closer DZ's that I've jumped around my house. It's well worth the 6 hour drive to get there.

If you want to learn something, GO HERE! If you need a place to stay at night, GO HERE!It's free, you'll hang out with hilarous folks, and wake up with the beautiful smell of a dz.

It's just a home for skydivers!

Also, the prices are very fair. They don't cheat you out of altitude.
I've jumped at ASC's sister DZ in Pell City, AL and they were nice folks but overpriced for the altitude. Also, the safety measures at Cullman are little more by the book.

I drove the extra distance past closer DZs because this place was highly recommended by an associate. His advice was spot on , and it was well worth the extra drive. As soon as I showed up, the staff, and jumpers welcomed me into the fold. This place is great for up-jumpers, students, and tandems. It has a very laid-back atmosphere, while still having an experienced staff focused on safety. There are usually several AFF instructors availible for students. The king air is awesome, and there is always someone willing to teach you something new.

What can I say about Skydive Alabama other than it has quickly become my home away from home. It's the kind of place where you walk up for the first time and people start walking up, introducing themselves. Everyone from the DZO to manifest to the "Regulars" who are there all the time are great people who will bend over backwards to help you out. They also know how to have fun. There is often a party going until late... so bring your beer with you because it is located in a dry county and it's 30mi to the nearest store you can buy beer.

In general, no matter why you are at the DZ (Tandem, Student, UpJumper) you can count on Skydive Alabama being an honest, safe and fun DZ full of friendly people.

Blue Skies.

I jumped there when I only had 39 jumps and we had a cross wind to the runway. I thought that I may have a hard time landing on the grass but I didn't. The lanking area is larger than it looks. Everyone was very friendly and I was able to get in 4 jumps on Friday afternoon, I could have made more. I plan to go back soon. Just seeing the countryside was worth the price of the jump ticket.

The manifest office at Cullman does have room for a couple of people to pack, but when a dozen jumpers land from the Beech, the office clearly is not the DZ's packing area. Regardless, Cullman has become my home DZ, and I love the place. In time, I hope Jonathon and Sandy build a business to rival the larger DZs toward Atlanta, but Skydive Alabama has my business just as it is.

I have jumped at Skydive Alabama quite often recently and I think that it one of the best dropzones in the region. The staff is very experienced, friendly, and honest. I had more problems with the people at ASC (Cedartown) being dishonest with me that I care to go into detail about. Skydive Alabama is a wonderful atmosphere for skydivers of all experience levels. They also have great tandemasters and an excellent AFF program. They also actually do have indoor packing room available as well as a carpeted packing area in the hangar. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SKYDIVE ALABAMA to up jumpers and beginners alike! I've had a blast every time that I've been!

Skydive Alabama is a small DZ adjoining the Folsom Field Airport in Cullman, AL. Folsom does a lot of pilot training and is large for a general aviation airfield, certainly larger than the small airport in Cedartown, GA where I learned to skydive. At Cedartown, the skydive center's plane was usually the only plane flying, but small planes and helicopters fly around Folsom continually. When the wind blows parallel to Folsom's two long runways, as it usually does, the wide, flat lawn between and surrounding the runways is an excellent landing area for skydivers. When the wind blows perpendicular to the runways, landing into the wind close to the DZ office while avoiding concrete and those busy runways might be tight for an inexperienced jumper, but I've never had to find out. The crowds at Cullman are small and friendly, with a relatively high ratio of experienced jumpers to students, and the recent addition of a Beech 99 makes Cullman a top-notch place to jump. I learned to skydive on Mike Mullins' King Air, which climbs almost twice as fast as the Beech 99, but a fifteen minute ride to altitude in the Beech 99 hardly seems longer than eight minutes in the King Air. The interior is more spacious, the seating is much more comfortable, and the exit is larger. The packing area at Cullman is a hangar with carpets spread out on a concrete floor, not bad surroundings for an aviation buff; however, the DZ advertises "heated/air conditioned indoor packing" at its web site, and the hangar doors were always open when I was there. It's not a big deal, but it is a little misleading considering the tone of criticism aimed at Cedartown (Atlanta Skydiving Center) at Skydive Alabama's web site. Some of the criticism is justified, but Cedertown really does have a very nice indoor facility, and Cullman's skydive center really doesn't. On the other hand, the airport facility at Cullman is very nice and even has a restaurant operating in some seasons. The "consumer warning" at Skydive Alabama's web site (a jab at Cedartown) is a little unseemly for my tastes and seems a poor marketing strategy to me. Giving a competitor so much attention could be counterproductive eventually, particularly if Cedartown cleans up its act a little. Cedartown's landing area is not the best, and some of its business practices are a little shoddy, but the facility and staff are excellent. I've had some great times at ASC, learned a lot from the world-class staff and friendly clientelle, was well treated after an injury and still have a warm feeling for the folks there, even the cut-throat DZOs. I'll jump at ASC again, but the friendly atmosphere at Cullman and that Beech 99 make the three hour trip to Cedartown seem a whole lot longer.
