  1. Hey folks, I finaly at the age of 35 made my first tandom skydive. Now that I have started I am looking forward to continuing (wife, kids, job and money permitting) My jump last week has also renewed my interest in learning more about my fathers experiences with skydiving. I grew up with the pictures on the walls, and some random stories here and there. I know that there are some more videos and log books floating around but I have not yet uncovered them. By the time I was old enough to know what was going on, he was on to other things. My most constant reminder of his skydiving was when we went to the airport together as he always set off the metal detectors. He had pins in his leg from a bad landing. I believe it was this incident and having a young family that turned him away from the sport. Dad died a few years ago with pancreatic cancer. I sure wish he was around today to share this experience with me. Anyway, I have a renewed interest in learning about his experiences in that time. As I have been reading, I have come to understand that it was pretty different. I was wondering if there might be some folks floating around here that may have been active in the same area/time. As I remember, he (Ben Baker) was most active in the mid 60s in the dallas/fort worth area. I specificly remember him mentioning Hicks airfield.
