    Best Canopy

I've been jumping a Sabre2 150 on all my WS dives and the only problems I have ever had were self-induced. As far as I know, the Sabre2 150 is just about the perfect wing suit canopy. Staged, on-headng opening almost every time! Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  2. Did my "best" last Sunday... 2min 20 sec on a Classic II. Exited 13,700 and delpoyed at 3000. I'm about 5'8", 165 lbs. Nowhere close to all those S3 posts but hey...I was pumped!! (And I can't wait until my already ordered S3 comes in.) Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  3. Wow! That's a great way to visualize the formation! I know I've been in flocks and found myself looking at two similar suits and getting momentarily confused. Looking at the top of the suit as it lays on the ground gives you a much better idea of what the dive should look like. Great idea! Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  4. Hey Sangiro! Nice work on re-emphasizing the rules and changing the structure of the site! Very nice!
  5. 3114:0 It's a soft machine. It works like a machine. Put it in the way it's supposed to be put in and it'll come out like it's supposed to. Learn to pack correctly and carefully...you'll miss a load or two at first but after a while your speed will build. Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  6. Very, very sad news. My wife and I met Roger (after hearing about him for years) at Quincy during one of the last boogies he organized there. We were wandering around after dark just enjoying the night after a long day of jumping. Roger came out of his RV, saw us, and immediately came up to us like we were old friends. He asked us if we were having a good time, if we needed anything, etc. Say what you want, we lost a pioneer...I didn't agree with everything he did but he was a wonderful human being. Please be careful under canopy folks...it's just a sin to lose people under fully functioning canopies. Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  7. Sorry it took so long to reply. Yes, e-mail the L and B folks--they just told me to send my unit to them and with a couple of weeks I had my new one. The support people at L and B have been nothing but great with me! Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  8. I had my old ProTrack also shut down on me several times. I contacted L and B and they said I had an old version. I sent them my old one and they sent me a brand new ProTrack which works great! I've recorded freefall times up to 125 seconds and speeds in the low 40mph range. The "SLO" setting is in the jump type menu. Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  9. Hey! Thanks to everyone for the suggestions on Cessna exits--they worked great! Special thanks to Steve and Chris--you were right...it's very easy! I sat next to the pilot, rotated my legs out, grabbed the strut, stayed crouched down, inched out to the end of the step and then stepped off so that I was facing the relative wind. I kept my arms folded across my chest and my knees bent for a second or two until I was clear...then opened everything up. Very cool and very easy! Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  10. Anyone out there doing Birdman jumps from Cessna 182's? I've only got about 25 wing suit jumps so far and all have been from a Twin Otter. This weekend I'm heading to a DZ with only 182's and need some exit advice! Steve J "Maintain an even strain." Steve "Maintain an even strain."
  11. Thanks to those who replied. I e-mailed the Mads Larsen at L & B. Based on my serial number, he told me I had an old version of the ProTrack. He said I could send it to them and would upgrade it for free! Nice people everywhere! Steve J.

    ProTracks

I've got about a dozen Bird jumps and my ProTrack keeps shutting down. It tells me I deploy between 9000 and 10,000 feet--which is obviously wrong since I throw out at four thousand. I've taken to using a stopwatch to time my freefalls--which have been around 110 seconds from 13,000. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix for it or do I have an old ProTrack with an out-of-date operating system?
