  1. I came up to BRSA on a Sunday because a friend was going to jump there as well. At first it threw me off how small the operation was. However I learned to love it. It's great the friendly staff made me feel right at home. I had lost my A-license previously in the month when I had lost my wallet but it wasn't an issue. A few phone calls and they knew I was up to date. The DZO came out and gave me a quick briefer and showed me the facility. Fortunately there were a few fun jumpers showing up so we could keep the prop turning all day. If you head out there to jump (call ahead) bring a friend or two and you can almost have the plane exclusively if there aren't tandems booked. Their 182 is actually one of the roomier ones I've been in, and surprisingly has no duct tape inside. Also the owner will sometimes come out and hop on a load with you as well. So if you are looking for one of the most beautiful places to jump or just a fun little family dz tucked away in a beautiful part of Virginia this place is awesome. It's definitely one of the most gorgeous DZ's in the fall. There's plenty of local places to camp and hike so if you have non skydiving friends they will have plenty to do in the area.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm starting my skydiving career shortly ! I jumped one tandem for my birthday almost a year ago. I must admit I really want to get my license. I loved it. The only problem I ran into was I don't have the money. While I love it, I feel I need to get my debt cleared first. This was all up until about a week ago. I got a job to become a parachute packer for a relatively local DZ!!!! The instructor said that he'll take me on a couple of free tandems from time to time as well as help train me towards getting my license. I can also use my packing money to help attain gear and training ! Not to mention I get to hang out in the hangar all weekend getting others hooked on the sport. I'm so excited I could burst. Sorry for the lengthy post but I just wanted to introduce myself and ask for any tips about packing / rigging for a total newbie. Eager to hear all the wisdom you seasoned pros have.
