  1. Julay,
I'm in the exact same predicament! I haven't jumped in about four months and I really want to get back into the sport. I'm a little nervous about getting back up there but I know I have to do a recurrency jump and it worries me. It's best to look at the situation as "You haven't jumped in a while, there is a lot that you've probably forgotten."

  2. You choose to "wait" until you're under 250? I think that if your dedicated enough to the sport why not work out a little bit so you can get back in the air?

On a other hand, is there a limit to how much you can weigh when skydiving? I'm new to the sport and love to learn as much as I can.

  3. I am a little confused on the question you are asking, however I do have a goPro camera and it is wonderful. Why use these extremely large cameras when a goPro is tiny and can do a much better job?

  4. guineapiggie,
I am in the exact same boat as you. I haven't jumped in about 4 months and I have not received my A-license. I made a post about this about 2 weeks ago and the advice that I was given is that you'll need to do about 45min to an hour of a refresher course, as well as your 7th AFF jump again. This should help you dust off the cobwebs and ensure that you remember all of your safety procedures. It never hurts to go over things and ensure you are knowledgeable 100%.

Hello. I have completed all of my AFF training (23 jumps as of now) but I have not finished my A-license. I have not jumped in four months and I am assuming that I will have to re-do my level 7 to show my current skill. Do you think it could be worse? Will I have to do more jumps than that to be back at solo jumping?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

It's clearly obvious that my safety is paramount, and a refresher would be necessary. Appreciate the advice.

Whatever it takes, isn't it worth it?

If your skills have faded, don't you want to refresh them?

"Do you think it could be worse?" Worse would be finding yourself on a skydive without the skill necessary to survive.

It is not "worse" to find that your skills need work, and to do the work, so that your skills are sufficient to give you a shot at surviving.

Now, if you are worried that they would lie to you to take your money, that's a different thing.

But if you aren't up to the required standards, the worst thing that could happen is that nobody insists that you get there again.

its so incredible it sends texts on its own!

has anyone else had any issues where their driod sends gibberish to people randomly during the night?

either i have text amnesia from the ambien and vicadin or my droid has a mind of its own.

i also keep having low space errors ever since 2.2 came out and keep having to wipe the cache from a few apps to get it working again. they sent me a replacement, just need to activate it. i'm baffled by the texting though

Exact reason why IPhone 4 remains superior.:P

I can't Stand Guiness, if it was the only beer on earth, I'd stop drinking![:/]

    +1

I absolutely cannot stand Guinness. I had an Irish Car Bomb not too long ago and it just totally ruined my night!

Although, I cannot talk smack because I like Bud Light Lime :P

  9. Psycho packing is a different style of packing where part of the packjob is rolled instead of folded (pro pack).

Oh, okay. Learn something new everyday. It's all about learning in this sport.

If you want to really calm your nerves, wait till just before the last load of the day, go to the packing room and watch the people scramble and trash pack as fast as humanly possible

"Trash pack" haha, that's a new one I haven't heard yet. I've honestly witnessed this though, the last time I went jumping. I was able to get on the sunset load (which was the best jump i've ever had considering we jumped from 14,500) and I saw quite a few individuals packing their rigs as fast as possible.

I've also heard the term psycho pack. Is this a different 'style' of packing? I can't wait to get my own rig!

It's snowing like a bastard. Suckage. That is all.

Snowboarding is the best thing ever created. Nothing like snowboarding in the mountains away from all the distractions.

  • Trash bags? Don't you have wheeled hard plastic garbage containers?

Exactly, but cats/dogs will get into anything.

Ryye...it will most likely open without incident. After several good openings, excessive worrying will subside and it becomes fun dialing in opening characteristics.

Yeah, i'm 100% with you on this one. Once I get my hands on the actual equipment i'm sure i'll be a lot more comfortable after a few jumps.

Alabama. Got all kinds of wildlife around me. For the most part, I have no problem with them and love most of 'em. Its just those goddamned geese.... :|

I've never been anywhere over there before, I live in Cali. The only thing we worry about it where i'm from is cats getting into the trash bags outside heh.

  • Whats worse are the damned posse of canadian geese that waddle into my yard from the lake and dig out bugs and shit all over it!

HAHAHA! Where do you live again? I would be pissed if I had random poo all over my yard!

Haha, i'm assuming you don't think raccoons are innocent either? If anything, they are a bunch of dumpster diving jerks!

Now my mom keeps a low power bb gun in the kitchen that looks out the back and shoots them off the fence, etc.

I mean honestly, who doesn't like to shoot squirrels off of a fence with a low powered BB gun?

This video has me laughing uncontrollably right now! I've seen it a few years ago but just watching these innocent rodents get launched is hilarious!

    She's an idiot.
We had this discussion months ago when she asked why I wasn't making it to some family events.
Because my ex-wife is there, whom I divorced for valid reasons.
I don't care to associate with her at all.

It seems that your sister is just missing the point entirely. If you told her what you said you told her, why would she continue to invite her? Is your sister close friends with your ex?

So I have a sister that always insists on inviting my ex-wife for our family get togethers.:S
What part of divorce is she missing???
I fucking hate when she does that.

So I guess I'll be at the DZ on turkey day. Again!

I would be highly pissed. Is she older or younger than you. Either way, I would tell her straight to her face that it isn't happening anymore. What's going to happen when your ex-wife invites her new boyfriend...

A friend of mine had a premature because of this while sitflying. He had a Merit which is known to open hard.

I shot it on camera and it doesn't look nice. He was out for a whole year with back problems. The pilot chute pouch is very important especially when freeflying.

OUCH! I could not imagine the amount of strain on your back in that situation!

Jumping that first packjob was such a mental beast! I opened at 6000ft because I was so nervous! :D

Lol! I could totally see myself doing this...It will be nerve racking but I know that i'll be fully knowledgeable when the time comes.
