  1. Hey guys i've just got a job in the whitsundays and will be wanting to jump at Airlie beach when i get some time off.... Would really like some info on the place if any of you have jumped there ?? i understand that funjumpers can only jump when they are landing in the shute harbour landing zone. how is that landing zone? any other restrictions?? Thanks a lot!!
  2. I've got no intentions of rushing. I think ill buy the larger rig and jump it until im ready to downsize. Seems the best way to do it as it saves a heap of cash... ill check out the swoop forum for that info thanks...
  3. I haven't jumped in over a year and a half as ive been out travelling so I k ow I would need to do a lot with instructors first. Fair enough ill take the advice that shouldnt be jumping two rigs on this trip that I have planned. If I am to buy thelarger rig ill sell it on once im ready to down size. What is a rough estimateof jumps to downsize to a 170? I know it depends on the jumper. I would be jumping daily. Im 5ft 10 80kg. If that helps....
  4. With your jumps numbers I'm of the opinion it is unwise to be jumping two different rigs. What kind of jump number\experience would u recommend? Would it be worth holding on to the rig untill nearer the end of my trip so that I could make more jumps?
  5. It depends on your comfort level and experience. For wingsuiting I use a 135. For all other free fall I use a 120. For CRW I jump 126, 143, or 160. If you are asking if its a good idea for you to transition directly from a 230 to a 170, I'd say hell no. No I deffintly not thinking of going straight from a 230 to a 170! Im more thinking of buying the 230 rig and possibly a 210 or 190 canopy here as I can get them cheaper. Jumping this rig until I can downsize to my 170 rig. Thus saving money on kit hire and getting an add for next to nothing. Then I would have to option of keeping the larger rig if I wanted. I could keep it with a 190 in it and have the two to jump once I was confident with the 170. But saying this if its not a good idea I could just sell the larger rig anyway and just jump my 170....
  6. Hi guys Ill first explain my situation. Im getting back into the sport after doing my AFF a couple of years ago and doing a handful of jumps afterwards. Im away travelling at the moment and have an opportunity to buy another rig. I have a rig back home with a 170 in it that I never got round to jumping, I stayed on a 210. The rig im looking at buying has a storm 230 in it plus a new AAD which I need to get anyway. My friend back home also has an aad with a year or so left so I can put that into one of the rigs to. I can get the rig pretty cheap because of the exchance rates over here and could even get another canopy to go with it for a middle margin while I downsizing to the 170. I could then either sell the rig or keep it and have the two to jump. Either way id be keeping the new AAD and getting it very cheap if not free because of the exchange rates. Im planning a teip for 3+ month skydiving this summer and plan on doing a bucket load of jumps. So my question is there downsides to jumping two rigs with two different canopy sizes or is it good to have the variation? And is there Is there a maximum recomended difference between them? Thanks for your time and replies. Olie
  7. Hi guy, ive been trying to get in contact with the genting tunnel but their email has been down for months now. Does anyone have any other contact details for them or a coaches number for there? Cheers guys have fun!
  8. Jump tickets in spain are around 25 euro which works out about 31 dollars... im thinking i'd get more jumps in in the US because of the exchange rate
  9. If you want to be an instructor, be a real instructor not a ride operator. Go for the AFF rating. Why put all that time and money into getting good at flying your body only to do the majority of your jumps under a drogue with 200 pounds of stupid attached to the front of you trying to kill you? im not saying i wouldn't want to be an AFF intructor, i love too. im just thinking that as there seems to be more work for tandum intructors that it might be best to do TI first and do my AFFI with the money i get for tandum work ?
  10. hi guys thanks for anyone who replys and helps me out :D. i did my AFF a while back and havent jump very much since attaining my A cert. i know i want to get into skydiving full time but i want to spend the money i've been saving wisely! i kind of wish i'd had done a tandum and then gone into my aff haveing time to save to inject myself into the sport. i've got quite a few questions so im just going to fire away: i've got 5000 pound ( nearly 8000 dollars), what would you do to maximise your progression with this cash? stay in the uk? go to the USA (or other countries) where its cheaper to jump and better weather? how longer trip can i take with this cash? i should be able to get un-paid leave for work so the trip could be a good few months if needed... if i went abroad to jump what things should i take into account? best insurance, dropzones to avoid lower experianced jumpers, converting say USPA back to BPA ect Should i look for a dropzone with a tunnel close by? will tunnel training benifit me at my lower experience level? i've talked with people about packing courses so that i could maybe extend my stay even longer. or even stay where ever i end up lol.... would i be better to do my packing course before i go or while im on my trip? would i need a visa if i was working as a packer? Best and Cheapest Dropzones? i hear of Lodi being very cheap on both training and jump tickets but also hear bad things about the way its run and the DZ location not being the best for lower expeienced jumpers. which dropzones offer good discount block tickets ?? and cheaper coaching jumps? I'd love to be working towards becoming a tandum instructor as it seems like there is quite a lot of work for TI's around the world ( i want to travel as much as possible, dont really want to stay in the UK) what kind of things should i work at towards to set me up to become a TI ? As for my personal progression i really want to do my FS1 so i can jump with others and then possibly look at doing FF after that. im also very interested in becoming a confident tracker and working on my canopy skills and becoming very confident under canopy. what courses would you recomend? After a trip like this would i have surficent training to start wingsuiting or would you recommend leaving this for a while until i was much more expeienced at flying my body? i really dont want to rush my training in any way! I have now got my own gear, rig, jumpsuit alti ect so i wont be needing kit hire, im quite happy to camp/ rough it to save money for jumps, i dont really drink (but still like to party :P) Big thanks to anyone who replies and helps me out, sorry for the mass questions!! i've probibly got a thousand more !! lol cheeers olie
  11. Tilstock (Whitchurch) is going to be the nearest to me as im from stourbridge near wolverhampton. how much would my set up be after i have completed the course? and where would be the best place to purcase this? is looking at second hand equiptment worth a go? is there an equiptment list anywhewre on the net so that i know what i would need? cheers olie sorry about all the question!! but i'm really tempted at doing this!!!
  12. hi guys thanks a lot for all the info so far!! im from the uk so guess ill be doing it with BPA. As after i do the AFF course i would want to look into doing the FS1 so that i could dive with other people. i'm from the west midlands, does anyone know of any places that i could go to, to do these courses? thanks
  13. hi guys im going to be doing my AFF course this year, i understand that you can do the course in one week and then you do 10 jumps after to qualify for your license. now once you have your license where do you go from there? can it run out? how often do you need to jump to keep it up to date? what other courses will become available? and what is the average price that you pay for a jump once you have your license? cheers for taking the time to reply will be a real help olie
