  1. Try to speed up the opening by tucking everything in after you pitch. Just throw, get very symmetrical and bring in your hands and knees as it is standing you up. Then just get very even in the seat. Pretty much you should not be chopping a Katana becuase of line twists at this wing loading. It is an aggressive canopy but unless you have like 5+ twists over your head, and low altitude, there is almost no reason not to fly out of them. Start doing pull ups daily, get fit, and gain some strength, or move up to a less aggressive wing it you cannot handle the openings. I have about 150 jumps on a katana at 1.8/1 and I have had pretty insane openings. Packing makes a difference also. I found that a precision pack worked best for it actually. But then you just enjoy the ride. Next time you jump it just be prepared to fight for a second, and you should regain control of the wing if getting really even in the saddle doesn't work for you.
  2. So what did you use for a remote or indicator light? Did you even use one or just have someone check and turn it on before exit? I filmed this jump (https://vimeo.com/107067910) and thats how I got the idea to try and shoot with DSLR and pull stills later. The problem is I cant always have a tech or helper on the plane with me to turn on the cam and make sure it is rolling.
  3. I am thinking about going to the T3I canon to shoot video instead of my outdated CX100. I am wandering if there is some kind of Indicator / remote that is available? Tricks or hacks for hypeye? What I would like to do ideally is to shoot the video and pull the stills from the raw files instead of wearing 2 separate cameras.
  4. I really want to play a blitz game of chess while skydiving. This is a plan to do in about 50-100 jumps from now and I an gathering information about how to make the board and mount the clock, or even if it would be safe to bring a chess board on a skydive. Any suggestions? Anyone know of someone who has already done this?
  5. . I definately do not consider my self as an expert and I can tell you I was really nervous the first time I jumped it. The whole reason I took the canopy course from Luigi this weekend was so that he could ether talk me out of it or pursuade me to stick with it which is what he did. I was really surprised how stable and easy to fly this canopy was so please try one if you have not done so!
  6. I have seen this and talked to my instructors before jumping it. Both they and Luigi Cani recommended the Nitron as a good choice for my level of experiance. I an not doing low tuns but only straight approaches giving my self at least 10 seconds of full flight before I flare. Coming from a triathlon 175, I have more flare, more control, and much softer landings so I would never consider going back up to a bigger canopy like that with less flare power. I appreciate your concern but also would recommend you to jump one of these to see for your self. The canopy desends almost as slow as my old Triathlon, and has much more foreward speed and flare power. I think its perfect for my level and I would definately not want to go any smaller.
  7. The profile was almost correct, I jumped the nitron 135 at 46 jumps, coming down from a Triathlon 175. The Nitron flies and lands absolutely great as compared to the Triathlon! alot of flare, very stable, and not a third as fast or twitchy as what I was expecting. I was encouraged by one of my instructors to try the canopy. My wing loading on it is 1.3. Even with no wind, I was getting incredible landings! I also took the canopy course this weekend from Luigi Cani and was complemented on my performance. I would recommend this canopy to anyone who likes massive flare power when they land. I did have one really hard opening though from which im still recovering,,, but thats what I get for not rolling the nose.

  9. I am about to demo a Nitron and just wanted to see some videos of people flying and landing this canopy. I have not found one! Does anyone have some videos laying around they could post or send me? Really want to see some landings.
  10. There was a guy at the dz a little while ago who had the Lazybag deployment bag. it had no rubber bands and stowed the lines super neat. I've been looking for one to use in my Mirage but can't seem find one for sale or anything like it even. I found a video on youtube but it didn't have a link. Anyone got a word?
  11. Does anyone know any good or bad things about psycho packing? Any tips? I find it really easy to deflate it and bag it just by rolling it. I've been playing with it at home but haven't jumped it yet because of the weather. it also makes sense to roll the sells opposite way from each other and leaving the center cell unrolled but would it cause a hard opening?
