Ratings and Rigging

  1. I'll pay you for the last one since no other church will let me in.
  2. I wish more people wouldn't charge to help out with wingsuits. Wingsuit manufacturers suggest jumping with a certified instructor to cover their butts if something happens and now people are trying to make money off of it to fill their own pockets. The issue is not the $20. Wingsuit "ratings" have become a business for some people and that seems strange when you consider that wingsuit ratings are, in reality, meaningless. There's a lot of people who work hard to get where they are, like Matt Hoover. His own work speaks to how good he is--not necessarily his ratings. People work hard to make wingsuiting a better and safe sport. People are doing cool stuff here at our ski resort (cutting away from a paraglider with a wingsuit and base rig) that combines different sports in exciting ways. So "quality" isn't a rating, but what people can actually see you doing. If there is such a thing as a wingsuit rating, it is at best only as good as a coach rating, and how many people actually go with a coach who doesn't also have an AFF rating? Not many. Only new skydivers who don't know any better. I wonder how many dz's make it a rule that you have to go with a certified wingsuit instructor?
  3. I've been taught by very experienced wingsuit instructors and people who had many skydiving ratings--for free. They taught me and everyone at the dropzone for free. Usually people who want to jump a wingsuit are already experienced skydivers. They don't need to pay someone to go do a fun jump with them 'cause isn't a wingsuit jump just another fun jump. Do you call the Prodigy or other beginner suits wingsuits? People jump camera suits bigger than this midget suit. The only training people need is on the big TonySuits, ProFly, Stealth or other huge wings. Maybe you're scared to fly them? You can't expect someone to pay your slot so they can jump something like a Prodigy. If you wanna keep arguing about this, I'm up to it. I don't have anything to do today. I had a rough night last night.
  4. Thanks! I'll be there on Saturday. For the rest of you boys, don't fight.
  5. Great! Thanks. Has he done some wingsuit BASE? I'm not ready for it yet, but I eventually want to do a BASE wingsuit jump.
  6. Some friends and I are in the US for some skiing and BASE. We are hoping to stop by the Eloy Boogie that is I believe on Feb 15-17 for some skydiving. I was wondering if anyone there would have some demo wingsuits. I have close to 500 jumps and around 20 wingsuit jumps. Thanks.
