  1. Our Otter is gone for the winter and the Caravan is annoyingly loud so I started using ear plugs and I just bought a few more foam ones from home depot. I dont think I'll jump w/out them now ... its just so nice and quiet on the ride up ...

  3. Just pay for the AFF package or if the DZ has an A licence package then go for that. The A package will teach you everything you need to know to get started and keep jumping. Packing classes are generally included in the A licence package. And gear rental should also be included when you buy the entire package.

My favorite Mr. Bill story comes from Reggie the packer in Eloy. Reggie was at Lodi back then and had around 100 jumps. He really wanted to try base jumping. Someone told him a Mr. Bill was just like a base jump so off he went. Reggie pulled off the Mr. Bill but damn near went in before he got it out. When asked why he opened so low Reggie responded, "You said it was just like a base jump.":D

thats one of the main reasons I want to try it out, for the "BASE experience" ...

I was going to say "do it right off student status!" While it's still cool! But you have it correct. Whats really cool is when you land it;)

You can only land a Mr. Bill if you have a total container malfunction... :P

saves you a pack job ...

I did a hybrid with a wingsuiter. Hung of his chest strap and went for a ride. Another 8 or so jumpers followed us in a track. once the hybrid went to shit we built a round and got it spinning pretty good. Amazing jump and the video is hilarious!

  6. dude its your life, if you dont think you can achieve your objective then you should have no compunction in asking for the instructor who can help you get it. A "loud and fun" guy is not necessarily the best teacher. I would think that if you told the manifest you dont mind waiting for a specific instructor in the rotation then manifest shouldnt have an issue with that and if you are just not feeling the DZ as a whole, try another one that fits you better ...

As long as you correctly logged your jumps and had them signed off, they never expire and will count towards your 25 for an 'A' license.

2 weeks is more than enough, there's a dude from Michigan who came down to our DZ and went from AFF lvl1 to A license in a week but he lived at the DZ for the week.

Hey guys, im starting to notice the vast difference between a "real" sport jumpers helmet and the plastic egg shell provided by the dz for students...that being said im in the market for a safe while somewhat stylish helmet. i have been looking at the COOKIE brand Ozone helmet and it looks to be what i am looking for but i want to know if its worth the money or if there are other brands that are more sturdy/ comfortable and more suitable for someone new to the sport. also would it be a good idea to get a used one or splurge the 250 for a n.i.b. one... another thing is i wear contacts and have lost one on a couple jumps would a closed face helmet help with that? are they sealed at the neck as to not let as much air in? or would it be the same ammount of air flow across my goggles? all of this sounds juvinile im sure but thanks for your imput guys.

an AFF level 1 student landed off yesterday and smacked into the asphalt pretty hard, his "plastic eggshell" helmet saved him from cracking his skull and a severe concussion, I'll post the "after pic" of the helmet if I can find it ...

  9. I failed lvl 2 and lvl 4. I repeated lvl 2 but my instructor for the jump following lvl 4 was cool and he let me combine lvl4 and lvl 5, so I basically did all the TLOs for lvl 4 and 5 in one jump ...
