  1. Hey everybody! It's me, "Blue skies, Black Kevin". Had I known this was coming I would've logged better! Cal City was the only dropzone for me. Guess you don't know what you've got til it's gone. Cal City is/was like home to me. I've been jumping there since the early 90's. I was talking to a friend last night and she reminded me how that place was open every day. That made sense cuz as a Navy jumper up at China Lake, I remember when we couldn't get range time all we had to do was check the weather, load up the trucks, and head down the road. It was about that time I met the Peckerheads... and soon became one. (then I got a cool scar and fell into the fire pit but let's not get into that now...) Thanks to everyone who helped make it such a special place. I guess that would be everyone. Last weekend I arrived there at 3:30am. As I approached the hangar I wondered if I could get in to get a hot shower. The sight of that big Peckerhead sticker on the glass door made me feel warm. What was I thinking? Of course the door was open.
