  1. Thanks, It's a wings. The threads I saw referencing $500 seemed to be the harness only. I know its no small task, but I'm hoping it's not out of the realm of possibility. Thanks!
  2. Hey all, I found a lot of info on harness resizing, and thats only part of my problem. I lost a bunch of weight last year, and desperately need to downsize to keep my original wing loading, and have my harness adjusted. I contemplated selling, and have also emailed the manufacturer about overhauling the whole container. Any thoughts? I have yet to hear back about pricing, or even if its possible. I understand the harness is no big deal, but my container was originally built to fit a 210 (current canopy) and be able to downsize to a 190. Now I'm in the market for a 170, with future flexibility of a 150. I understand this is a lot of work, but to those with more experience, does it wound worth it? Im trying to be cost efficient and not get a whole new container, since I've had this one since new for only 5 years. Im not an aggressive downsizer, and I want a slower canopy that will suit me well for the demos that I mostly fly. I plan on settling with the 170 to 150 range for the rest of my skydiving career. Im currently 185 pounds, down from 235. Thanks for all your help!
  3. Thanks again, and Walt says te same. Got in touch with him and he has a few units already made ready to ship! I should have it in 8 days or less with time to test jump it! It's a bit pricey like you said, bu a good quality investment I'll have for years to come. Thanks again
  4. Ok thanks. I found some 9" wide ones I may look into. I like those better than the party store 2" ones. Thanks
  5. Maybe I will go the crepe paper route for in interim. I'm just worried it'll look cheesy. I found some cheap in 9' rolls. I'll have to glue or tape them together but I may try that out.
  6. Thanks again, I shot him an email, I'll follow up tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help.
  7. I think I have a visual, and I think it's going to be a little more difficult than I imagined, since it's been pretty hard tracking someone down with the appropriate sewing gear. I'll keep this in mind for the future however. I think my timeline is a little too tight. Thanks
  8. http://www.strapworks.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TNW2 Is this the stuff that you used for the leading edge? Do you reinforce it with this then fill it with lead shot at certain intervals and sew off sections to hold the shot?
  9. Thank you all for your input, I'm glad I posted so I'm now aware of new ideas. I like all the recent pictures of the integrated weight. Not only is it safer, but it looks much cleaner. Do any of you guys have close ups of your assemblies so I can see how and where you attached the tube nylon to the leading edge? Also, I can't see in the photo how you are attaching the whole unit to yourselves, could you share? I'm trying to get this made ASAP as safely as possible, as I need it for a demo in 2 weeks! Thanks
  10. Thanks for the input. Attached are a few pics from a demo this last weekend. I have had all my guidance from a very experienced civilian, and military demonstration skydiver, so I take his advice well. I am not shying away from others' ideas, but I'm just saying this rigging system isn't some dream I had. It has worked for him for thousands of demos, and has served me well thus far. There is a risk with modifying any type of system, however I believe this is a safe set-up. This banner I was flying was attached to my chest strap with a caribiner, and a bridle down to the upper banner grommet. The bottom grommet had a 10# weight on it. It's stored in an belly bag strapped around my waist. I am looking to make a similar setup using the same method for attachment, and looking more like the #2, and #3 photos in airtwardo's post above. A 30' streamer with 3 colors, hemmed for the first third or so, weighted, and the leading edge will be sewn to webbing for reinforcement from the pull of the weight. I'm all ears with respect to different mounting/deployment solutions. Thanks again.
  11. Anyone have any additional thoughts? I'm researching how to make a safe streamer set up, but there's really no guidance. So I think I'll go with the route I go with attaching a flag, and sew the nylon to some poly webbing for reinforcement.
  12. I'm looking to have a set-up like the 2nd and 3rd photo.
  13. Note the join date. 2007. I don't update the jumps
  14. Hey Guys, I'm looking for some advice on a streamer set-up for some upcoming 4th of July demos I have. I would like to make some nice rip-stop nylon red, white, and blue streamers to trail under canopy. I was thinking in the area of 15-20 feet. Any advice on set up, weights, and how to fix the streamers to para cord? I was thinking having a belly bag with a 5# weight and the streamers. I would caribeaner the para cord to my chest strap like I do with flags, and trail the streamer on a cord between my legs. Thanks for your help!
  15. Im just trying to picture this. In what fashion to the 2 attach to each other, and how does Mr. Bill climb up on the shoulders? ARL
  16. I know getting back from a long spot has its different methods depending on wind and such. I see a lot of posts about using rear risers. With respect to canopy flight (depending on canopy of course) what method will let you cover more distance over land. FWIW I fly a Spectre 210 at 1.2. A lot of posts say the Spectre does better with rear risers. ARL
  17. Are most night jumps usually a wash when its cloudy?
  18. Getting my first opportunity to do night jumps this Friday and looking into what people have used for lights etc. I see the SIM doesn't specify any type or model of light, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what types of lights seem to satisfy the SIM and are easily attachable. Also, where do most attach the lights, rig, chest strap, legs arms? Thanks all! ARL***
  19. All above are mostly correct. Use only warm water with NO soap, and let it air dry. If you need to just rub your finger across the shield to get off any hard stains/smudges, you can with water only. Due to the anti-fog and anti-scratch coating on the lens, using any towel (even microfiber) will cause the lens to possibly scratch of leave fibers on the mask. Unfortunately these lenses attract finger prints like crazy, and waters the only option! Good Luck ARL
  20. Hey all, Im in the process of ordering a Swoop Suit and I have a few questions for the more experienced. With regards to Suit/grip colors......what are the following.. Slick Nylon, Supplex, 4-ply, Print. Now I assume they are types of material but what is the norm/major difference between them all. Does anyone recommend Spandex forearms? Thanks for al the help in advance ARL
  21. Hey all, Im looking for a way to stow my slider behind my head on a Wings Vision. Due to the size of the reserve flap I dont think the typical ball and elastic method will work. I would also like to avoid sewing velcro an my RW suit as I jump in shorts a lot. Any Ideas? Also, I saw an RW team at my DZ yesterday that had a neat way of stowing their slider. There was an elastic base that wrapped arouns the reserve flap with another elastic loop perpindicular to that to stow the slider. It has a Skysystems name on it but I couldn't find it on their website. Thanks for the help. ARL
  22. Thanks guys! All great posts, Ill try them all. And not a bad idea to try and practice in the living room! Thanks AL
  23. Hy everybody, Im fairly new to the sport with about 55 jumps. I just got a new rig with a used main (80 jumps). I have never been the greatest at packing but I seem to be having more trouble now than before, whether it be the new canopy (Spectre 210) or the new season, or my experience level. I have no problems before and after folding the canopy and getting it into the bag. Thats my weakness, up to and after that I am fine. Some experienced people have said, "well it opens fine right?" Well, yes it has never given me a problem but I dont feel comfortable, because it seems to fall apart when putting it into the bag and I kind of just stuff it in there every which way. I know packing is hard to speak about, but is there any advice out there that may help me out?\ Thanks all AL
  24. Hey, Jumptown is the way to go. Its my home DZ and wouldn't jump anywhere else. Theres only one other in MA that accepts experienced jumpers, but they are smaller, not as busy, and I have heard some not so good things about them. We have a Super Otter and a 182. It gets pretty busy on the weekends with about 20-/+ otter loads. They have a great staff of AFF and senior instructors/tandem masters etc. I would highly recommend Jumptown if your looking to jump in MA. Blue Skies
