Thanks for all the advice. I did a few jumps this weekend and ACED all my landings!!! I like NOT icing my legs after jumps!

What goes through your mind when you get injured?
Krmpy replied to jigneshsoni's topic in Safety and Training
I am just a student as well going for the license and I've had only a few "good" landings. I did 3 jumps last weekend and the last one was really hurt. I flared a bit late and pretty much slammed on the ground. For the first few seconds, all I could think about is to "just get up" and that I will be fine. Walking back to the DZ all I could think about now is that my left leg is hurting again. I was rushing the way home (as usual) to ice my leg again to start the healing process. For the next few hours and days I think about how to get better and how to prepare myself for the next jump. Some people think I am insane for continuing to jump since they see me limping - I say I am passionate!!! -
I'd like to get some advice on the timing of the flares during landing. I heard that you flare around 10 feet of the ground and pull on the toggles depending on wind conditions - fast flare on windy days and slow flare on calm days. I have done 14 jumps so far and I think only landed softly on 3 of those jumps. I am icing my knees / legs again such that I can do some jumps next week - thank goodness I heal quickly. Thanks for your input.

Average of $3.50 to $3.75 here in California. (And this is the "regular" or cheapest kind)

The DZ doesn't assign a specific JM to students so I am practically going thru my AFF with whomever is available. I have had Clay, Tim, Andy, Vic, Steve as my AFF JM's so far. I am hoping to finish my AFF this weekend or the next - weather permitting.

I am currently not flying for any major airlines (yet). I may go the corporate route and just fly those cool jets but time will tell. I've always been fascinated with flying and I believe skydiving is the next step for me in terms of getting out of my comfort zone.
