  1. Yeah, this would be as a last resort. In that manner it sounded like a reasonable option. Hope I never need it though. But always good to have all angles covered. At least, falling flat, back to earth, the pilot, bridle, and eventually packjob, should slide off the side. Agree that a steep angel is bad news here though.

  2. I heared an interesting technice for energency deployment, but have not tested it myself.

The idea is, if you cant recover from a bad wipe out/spinn/tumble, that you can; Ball up/collapse wings, fall on your back and stream legs and arms after you and pitching in this position.

To me it sounds like a reasonable out if everything goes pear shaped but i really dont know.

Anyone tried/had to do this in a big suit? And does it actually work?

  3. Bought a copy of "Transcending Fear" from Big Air Sportz 4 weeks ago, but still nothing. It´s an international order, but still, 4 weeks is just too long. Usually takes a bit more then a week. Emailed them twice, but no reply... Out of business...?

Anyone got another way to get in touch with them then [email protected]?

    thanks

  4. When it comes to skydiving, my experience is limited as I am as fresh as you, but with tattoos I have a fairly long history ;)

The best advise I can give you, is don't ask for advise. What I mean is that if you don't know exactly whay you want, then wait. For it to be truly yours, it needs to be your idea to [;)

It boils down to: take your time. It will come to you. Don't rush it. Love to see it when the job is done!

  5. Newbie question, but it came up reading Brian´s "parachute and its pilot"

Is this right concerning deployment; (my understanding on what i read on G´s)

Is the brake toggles set to "half effect" to create greater drag on deployment, resulting in a stronger g force witch gives increased line tension for better inflation and stability during openings?

hope i´m not way out on this one... :$

  6. I think it´s because I, for my part, read pitch as AoA. It kind of is in a way also. But given the replies here I think I get it.

So to add a question - is a there any good reason for rear riser input instead of "brakes"? If "brakes" are an option that is? Will it cause reduced air speed without so much infliction of the AoA?

....and, how serious/dangerous is a full "stall"? collapse?

  7. I´m reading "The parachute and it´s pilot" at the moment, and there is this one bit I´m having trouble to understand. Maybe someone can help me. I really want to understand what I´m reading. I I don´t there is little point reading it :)
I quote: "The pitch does in fact change somewhat as a result of rear riser input, but much more slowly than in brake application. This is why it is far easier to "stall" the wing with rear risers, even at high air speeds. The angel of attack can be changed quicker, without immediately changing the direction of flight. The slower increase in angel of attack during brake input is due to the fact that the suspended weight must move several feet forward to make a significant impact on the angel of attack"

I am confused. As i read it, it sounds like rear riser input changes the angel both quicker and slower at the same time. It says in the beginning that it changes the pitch slower, and then it says that it increases the angel of attack quicker? Isn´t the "pitch" the angel of attack?? Witch is it? Does the wing stall quicker with slower applications?

Would really help if someone gave me a short explenation.

    Thanks a lot! :)

  8. Thanks a lot.

I´m actually not that fond of forums. Just to much rubbish in most of them. People acting like they are king of their sport, when they are not. A lot of wrong info about (not here).

But this has been a pleasant surprise. Thanks again for all the help!

  9. hehe. im not intending to. Well, unless everyone with experience told me to. ;)

The issues i was reffering to was 90 degree turns and closed end cells. on deployment of course.

thanks guys. many things to learn for a new guy like me :)

  10. Sorry, my english is not all that good, so it might seem a bit unclear what im askin.

To narrow it down; will a higher wing load on the Sabre 2 affect these deployment issues for the better or worse? or not at all?

If I´m not misstaking i think I saw someone recomending higher wing load to avoid these problems im reffering to. I, for my part, do not know.

I weigh (with no gear, just clothes) 74kg. Thats 163 by your standards.

  11. Hi,

I´m really quite new to this game, so bear with me. I have about 40+ jumps and are under a month away from my new (and first) rig arriving. The question is actually not about the rig, but the wing. The wing of choice is a Sabre 2 170 and I have been reading a lot of reviews on it.

It seems to give a lot of people 90 degree turns on deployment and some closed end cells.

I know I´m not supposed to be exceeding the wing load since I am so new, but I was told I could "bend" it a bit after some jumps. I have to loose some weight before jumping it, but I didn´t want to buy a wing that I would "out grow" to fast. Quite the investment.

The question is; would the wing load have any impact on these "problems" or would it not matter at all. I was told i could start jumping it with a WL of 1.1 but my "normal" weight is gives something between 1.15-1.2...

Sorry for the looooong post guys! :S
