    If I have it on with no leg straps, I have no problem with the handle while on my belly. As soon as the leg straps go on, they pull my MLW down and my rig goes up my back. Pretty sure an extra inch and a half on the MLW will fix it.

    Then, it is resolved, and it needs to be resized in MLW section. I guess it needs to go back to Sunpath or in hands of allowed master rigger,...


  2. Sounds to me like your laterals could be too long for you. This would cause your rig to be lifted from your back. Can you put something in between your back and rig when dressed up for jump ? If so - that's your problem.

    Went to Hans (Fallschirmdepot Ostermünchner GmbH). Great guy.

    Ended up with German and Croatian Master riggers licence (not FAA stuff).

    Been flying a 2007 Hurricane 170 for about 50 dives or so, love the way it flies, and coming back from long spots, awesome flare. BUT the openings on this thing is always turning, to one side or the other. I do my own pack jobs and have tried everything I can think of.  Any advise PLEASE. It only have about 130 dives on it and is still crackling

    OR Is there a 170 square on the market that can give me similar performance and glide ratio than a Hurricane.

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    I jump Hurricane 120 loaded 1.7. It opens perfectly. I guess it needs to be loaded more,...

    This is so wrong to say. Harness container is most important component. This component decides if your canopy starts to open on its own, can you find pilot chute, how it is hard to pull it, also what happens with other handles (cutaway and reserve), geometry of 3 ring must be precise in mm's or it won't work as it should. Toggles on your canopies can unstow and this can lead to cutaways. There are some toggles that will not release if tab is made to soft. How much stitching is there is in corners is also very important do that canopy can deploy regardless of body position, and that it still retains deployment bag until bridle stretch.

    Will cutaway handle slip under your shirt, can you snag it with steering toggle, how reserve pin is swagged, how long is ripcord cable, etc. ? 

    Reserve PC is also story for it self. What type of coil, what material, strength, center of mass, type of fabric, diameter and ratio between mesh and fabric.

    I didn't even mention of something is snagable on container and how it would behave in case of snag.

    And many more things,...

    Most people will focus on options like good mard and magnetic riser covers, but core functionality must be good also (and in most H/C it is).

    Yes, that one. Only there is no backplate for YI. So one has to glue normal gopro mount on back of waterprof case, and remove one of 3 legs from bracket mount Adapter, that way you get skyclip compatible backplate.

    I know, riser breaks are no longer very common. But why take a chance?

    I know a Ti who has had three over the course of his career. I was on a load with a Ti this year who had a riser failure on his RSL side and it deployed his reserve (Strong rig). I agree with the need for a Collins lanyard. Every RSL and MARD should have one. With the patent expired, there is no reason not to include one.

    Talked with Firebird yesterday, there will be Collins with this system. It just wasn't showed in this short video presentation.

    From the video posted on the Firebird website, it looks like the MARD is closer to the freebag than the pilot chute. Is that correct? Or is it just an illusion/perspective thing?



    No, it is closer to RPC to avoid possibility of RPC wrapping around reserve lines.

    No Collins Lanyard? I'm not going to pretend to be smart enough to judge if this system is safe and effective or not. But it could be. Unless of course you have a riser break on the RSL side. In which case you will probably die without a Collins Lanyard.

    I know, riser breaks are no longer very common. But why take a chance?



    This is yet to be decided. Mirage took approach with moving rsl shackle on riser below usual breaking point. That is also an option.

    If I'm getting it right, compared to a system like the Wings Boost, this uses bridle fabric in place of a steel pin, and a bungee in place of a piece of line.

    That seems to be changing towards materials that are higher friction (the bridle) or weaker & perhaps more variable (bungee). While the subtleties of any issues with MARDs can be difficult to see, I'd like to know the rationale for changing things in this way.



    It is like that as it is simpler system overall. Friction of bridle i negligible in whole story. It is important that RSL -> MARD bungee can handle forces needed for deployment (and it surley can) and yet fail before freebags safety stow (by having less stitches on it than on freebags safety stow).

    RSL -> MARD bungee is replaceable.

    I'd like to see this test performed in the opposite direction. Hold the assembly as it would be held in place for a straight-to-reserve deployment, and show what happens if the PC launches in the direction of the two arrows (as close to 180 degrees as possible). How does the extraction force change?



    Assembly is not held in place in any scenario. In RPC activation scenario there is force between RPC and RSL lanyard (connected to main riser).

    Angle of RPC pull is unimportant as assembly orients between RPC and RSL lanyard in case of RPC pull (in that scenario).

    I will try to film this scenario for you, I did test it many times and it is under 1 kilos of force.

    If you are talking about red part of bridle:
    There is also small loop at the end of MARD assebmly (left of red area) it holds fold in place with red break thread.
    Also I have played with many configurations and it evens it self out as it is being pulled from RCP side.

    Also if you are talking about green part of bridle:
    SS gromet size 0 and big loop ensures that green part of bridle will not be distorted or sucked into a size 0 hole.

  13. What I have used, for smaller flags you can use large main dbags (from 250 sqft to 410 sqft tandem).
    Close mouth of bag with lulon ripcord, fix ripcord to bag with break tape.

    This was used on short delays.

    Either Pfaff 238 or Berninan 217. If you find a Bernina 217n-8 parts are available from Global who's making new versions. If you find either a Bernina 217 or 217n with a cam drive on the back you can also do a 308 double throw zigzag with it. A 217 is easy. The 308 cam for a 217n can be made but not found for sale. Another choice is a Consew 199r-1. I have all three. (5 machines total).



    How big is plate to presser foot clearance on these machines ?

    An inch of stitching can make a world of difference. Freebag needs to rotate before leaving reserve tray and bottom corners are preventing that motion. It personally think that stitching plays bigger role than PC in this case.

    Problem with heavier PS22019-1 (or similar) friction adapter is that in case of loose chest strap it can hit you in your mouth on opening, depending of how far it is from MLW and how loose fit is on a jumper. And dental services are not so cheap this days ;)

    Also, weight of PS22019-1 would give overall bad hanging look of chest strap.

    I think we need something that is not invented yet here ,...
